BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The BGSU cross country programs have accomplished tremendous feats.
For the second season in a row, the women's team has recorded the best team grade point average in Division I with a 3.97 mark. It also marks the 13th time in the last 14 seasons that the program has earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors.
Of all the teams in the country regardless of division, including NAIA and junior colleges, the Falcons ranked second in team GPA only behind Division II University of Mary (3.984 GPA).
The men's squad also earned a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team nod, finishing with a 3.714 GPA. It marked the eighth best team GPA in the nation and also the 13th time in the last 14 seasons they have earned the All-Academic Team honor.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
"I am so proud of these young men and women," head coach Lou Snelling said. "Their work ethic and focus demonstrate that achieving at the highest levels academically and athletically is a reality at Bowling Green. I thank them, the staff in Student Athlete Services and the faculty at BGSU for everything that goes into making an accomplishment like this possible."
