BGSU Tennis Returns Home for Two Matches against Oakland and Buffalo
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Tennis team will return home from their spring break training trip to Florida. The Falcons will play the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Friday afternoon and will open Mid-American Conference play on Sunday against Buffalo.
Last Time Out
The Falcons went 1-1 on their trip to Florida with a win over Saginaw Valley State by a score of 5-2. On Monday, Tia Clemens and Isabella Baker won No.1 doubles by a score of 6-4 and Leticia Fonseca and Lucia Gaio won 6-1 in No.3 doubles. In singles, Qianyu Liu won No.2 singles in straight sets by a score of 6-2, 6-1 to extend their lead to 2-0. Lucia Gaio clinched the match for the Falcons at No.5 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. On Tuesday, the Falcons fought hard and picked up wins at No.1, No.2 and No.5 spots.
Opponent Outlook: Oakland
The Oakland Golden Grizzlies are currently 3-6 on the season including a win over MAC opponent Eastern Michigan. BGSU will be last of four MAC schools that the grizzlies will face off against. Last time, Oakland dropped a 5-2 decision to Western Michigan. BGSU saw Oakland this fall at Eastern Michigan at the Block E Invitational. Notably, Leticia Fonseca def. Warisara Lee (Oakland) (7-5, 6-3).

The two teams will be meeting for the fourth time in program history on Friday afternoon. The Falcons currently hold a 1-2 record against the Golden Grizzlies. This will mark the third of four matches to be hosted by BG. The Orange and Brown will be looking to extend their win streak to two matches after defeating the golden grizzlies 5-2 in Perrysburg, Ohio., a season ago.
Opponent Outlook: Buffalo
The Buffalo Bulls are currently 13-2 overall and are set to open Mid-American Conference play against Bowling Green. Buffalo was selected to finish sixth in the MAC in the Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll with one first place vote. On Monday March 3rd, 2025 Blanca Berges and Liv Roestel were named MAC Doubles Team of the Week.

The two teams will be meeting for the 30th time in program history on Sunday. The Falcons currently hold a 14-15 record against the Bulls. BGSU holds a 8-6 record against Buffalo at home.
