- DescriptionAstronomy today is a diverse global effort to understand the Universe. Several of the world’s most important ground-based observatories are located in the high Atacama Desert of Chile. In Big Astronomy, you’ll meet several of the astronomers, engineers, technicians and support staff who use and operate these impressive observatories.
