- Feb 186:00 PMScience Cafe Event at JuniperProfessor Susan Brown of BGSU will be giving a talk called The Graying of Divorce at Juniper Brewing Company. There will be a lecture followed by a Q&A with the audience! Refreshments will be available.After peaking in 1979, the U.S. divorce rate has steadily declined. However, the risk of divorce for older adults (defined as ages 50+) has more than doubled over this period, reflecting the graying of divorce. In this talk, Susan Brown will trace the rise of gray divorce in the U.S., addressing its causes and consequences. She will conclude with a discussion of how divorce patterns are likely to unfold in the future.Susan L. Brown is Distinguished Research Professor of Sociology. She also serves as Director of the Center for Family and Demographic Research and the Co-Director of the National Center for Family & Marriage Research. A family demographer, she studies the rapid transformation of American family life, including recent changes in cohabitation, marriage, and divorce. Her research has been supported by a career development award from NICHD as well as grants from NIA. She is the author of Families in America, published by the University of California Press.

The exhibit was created through a collaborative process and inspired by her previous workshops and events.------Women’s History Month This event is part of Women’s History Month at BGSU.
