Tuesday Baseball Canceled, Falcons Turn Focus To Akron Series Beginning Thursday
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will return home to Steller Field this week to begin a stretch of eight of their next nine games at home. The homestand was originally set to begin on Tuesday (March 31) against Oakland, but due to high winds the game has been canceled. Instead, BGSU will transition to a MAC series against Akron, beginning on Thursday (April 2). The Falcons and Zips will have 3 p.m. starts on Thursday and Friday before a 1 p.m. first pitch on Saturday. Falcons Come Up Short In Offensive Battle With Huskies
DeKALB, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team closed out the weekend series against Northern Illinois on Sunday (March 29). The Falcons tallied a season-high 16 hits in the game, producing eight runs, but the Huskies responded in similar fashion with 13 hits and 12 runs for a 12-8 final score in favor of NIU. All 10 players to log a plate appearance for Bowling Green reached base at least once and all nine starters knocked a hit with five logging multiple. Following the outcome, the Falcons will now return home to Steller Field for nine of their next 10 games.
Falcons Fall To NIU Saturday As Huskies Force Sunday Rubber Match
DeKALB, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team continued the weekend series against the Northern Illinois Huskies Saturday (March 28) after taking the series opener Friday (March 27). The game turned into a battle of the mound with runs scored in only three frames. Northern Illinois tallied two in the third and one in the fourth before adding two in seventh to build up to their 5-0 win. For the Falcons, Carter Mottice tallied BGSU's lone hit of the day while CJ Boudreaux and Micah Smith both turned in solid bullpen outings. The Falcons and Huskies will decide the series on Sunday (March 29) with a 2 p.m. EST, 1 p.m. CT first pitch.
BGSU Doubles Way To Friday Victory Over Northern Illinois
DeKALB, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team took the first game of the series against Northern Illinois Friday night (March 27) with a 5-4 final. The Falcons hit their way to the win behind six doubles. In total, BGSU tallied seven hits with the first six all being doubles. The Falcons scored in bunches, tallying two in the second and three in the eighth to combat sporadic runs from the Huskies. Carrson Sova picked up the win in relief with Titus Lotz logged the save, completing the day that was started by Ethan Stade with eight strikeouts. BGSU and NIU will continue the series on Saturday (March 28) with a 3 p.m. EST, 2 p.m. CT first pitch.
BGSU Baseball Resumes MAC Play With Last Conference Trip To DeKalb
DeKALB, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will resume MAC play this weekend with a three-game series at Northern Illinois. The Falcons and Huskies will start the series on Friday (March 27) with a 4 p.m. EST first pitch. The series will continue Saturday (March 28) and conclude Sunday (March 29) with the start time bumping up an hour with each day. Each game of the series will be available to stream on NIU All-Access.
