Eddie George Selected as Winner of the 21st MFC Legends Award
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Maxwell Football Club Executive Director Mark Wolpert announced that Bowling Green's Mike and Jan Wilcox Head Football Coach Eddie George has been selected as the winner of the 21st MFC Legends Award. George stands as one of the most distinguished figures in football, embodying excellence, leadership, and a sustained impact across every level of the game. A native of Philadelphia, George rose to national prominence at The Ohio State University, where his powerful running style, durability, and commanding presence made him one of the most dominant players of his era. His historic 1995 season culminated in winning the Doak Walker Award, Maxwell Award, and Heisman Trophy, after rushing for 1,927 yards and 24 touchdowns, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players in Buckeye history. His collegiate success set the foundation for a remarkable professional career, as he was selected 14th overall in the 1996 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers and immediately became one of the league's premier running backs.
