It’s an opportunity for our campus community to come together to show up and show out in your BGSU Spirit attire on Tuesday, September 9 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.in the Courtyard (inclement weather location Falcon Square, North Building). Campus community members can meet and mingle with student club and organization leaders, enjoy free cookout food, get competitive with games, music with Rock & Roll Express Entertainment, and MORE!

In this session, you’ll begin with a brief introduction to autism fundamentals, then engage in an interactive panel discussion featuring autistic individuals and their allies.Through direct dialogue with panelists, you’ll hear personal stories, challenge assumptions, and explore topics like autism history, reframing autistic characteristics, and supportive strategies. You’ll have the chance to reflect, ask questions, and gain practical ideas for creating more inclusive and supportive environments—whether in the workplace, classroom, or broader community.By participating in this session, you will be able to:Identify and compare current misconceptions about autism with historical stigmas, and explain their impact on the autistic community. Recognize and reframe commonly misunderstood autistic traits—such as stimming or sensory needs—through a strengths-based, neurodiversity-informed lens. Apply at least three supportive strategies shared by panelists to make your workplace, school, or community more inclusive. Develop an action plan to implement one meaningful change in your personal or professional life based on panelist insights.
