BGSU Hockey Set to Host CCHA Mason Cup Quarterfinals against Michigan Tech
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (16-13-4, CCHA 12-10-4) will host the Michigan Tech Huskies (16-15-3, CCHA 12-11-3) to open the CCHA Mason Cup Championship play. The two teams will meet in the Mason Cup Quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.

- Tech has five shutouts this season which ranks third in the nation. Ryan Manzella has three shutouts, and Derek Mullahy has a pair.
- Tech's power play ranks sixth in the country at 26.2 percent. The Huskies have scored 28 power play goals this season which ranks sixth.
- Elias Jansson leads the Huskies with 12 goals which leads CCHA freshmen and ranks ninth in the country among NCAA newcomers. His six power-play goals rank third in the CCHA.
- The Huskies took 4-of-6 CCHA points at Bowling Green on Nov. 29-30.

- Senior Christian Stoever is currently fourth in the NCAA and the second in the CCHA in save percentage at .939. Stoever is currently second in the CCHA in saves per game at 29.60. Notably, the last time the Falcons faced Michigan Tech; Stoever played 47:08 minutes before leaving with injury. He was spectacular with 43 saves and a .956 save percentage.
- Sophomore Brody Waters is currently tied for first in the CCHA in goals with 16 on the season as well as leading in power-play goals with 10. Waters, 10 goals on the power-play also lead the NCAA . The sophomore is also in the top 10 in the NCAA in goals
- For BGSU, home ice advantage rings true. The Falcons are one of four teams in the CCHA with a winning record at home. The only team with more wins at home sit above them in the CCHA rankings (Minnesota State, 13). The Orange and Brown have an 8-5-3 record at Slater Family Ice Arena vs. an 8-8-1 record on the road. When hosting the Quarterfinals at Slater Family Ice Arena, the Falcons are 30-10 all time including the CCHA/WCHA. In the CCHA, including the old conference and new conference, BGSU is 17-7 all time.
- The Falcons will meet the Michigan Tech Huskies in the Mason Cup Quarterfinals for the second consecutive season. The last time these two teams met in the playoffs, BGSU had a different head coach, and the series occurred in Houghton, Mich. In that series, BGSU was swept in two games, the Falcons will be looking for revenge against the Huskies in the playoffs.
