MAC Preseason Coaches Poll Places Falcons Second In Conference
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced Monday morning (Aug. 26) the MAC Volleyball Preseason Poll and Preseason All-MAC Team for the upcoming 2024 season. Bowling Green was selected to finish second in the MAC, coming in behind Western Michigan. BGSU received one first place vote as well as two votes to win the MAC Tournament. Additionally, Lauryn Hovey was selected to the Preseason All-MAC Team.
As a team, the Falcons received one first place vote with Western Michigan receiving the other 11. BGSU finished with 102 points in the poll, trailing only Western Michigan (121) and followed by Ball State (98) and Buffalo (92) as the other teams to eclipse the 90-point mark. Ohio (84) and Toledo (79) rounded out the top half of the conference. As for the MAC Tournament, BGSU collected two of the votes to be crowned tournament champion with Western Michigan receiving nine and Ball State one.
As for the Preseason All-MAC Team, the Falcons had Lauryn Hovey named to the list. Hovey is coming off her second All-MAC First Team selection in as many collegiate seasons. In 2023, Hovey landed 500 kills, becoming just the seventh player in program history to land 500+ kills in a season. The mark ranked 18th in the country and led the MAC. Hovey also recorded 59 aces, finishing second in program history for aces in a single season, ranking 10th in the country and coming in second in the MAC.
The Falcons will begin the regular season this weekend with a trio of home matches as they host the Best Western Invitational. Bowling Green will open the season on Friday (Aug. 30) at 6 p.m. against Chicago State as well as unveiling the team's new Taraflex court. The weekend will continue on Saturday (Aug. 31) against Illinois at 6 p.m. before concluding on Sunday (Sept. 1) against Cincinnati at 1 p.m.

- Jessica Andrews One Of 10 NCAA Student-Athletes Selected To Participate In VNLBOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University middle blocker Jessica Andrews has been selected to represent Canada in this year's Volleyball Nations League. Andrews is one of 10 NCAA student-athletes picked to play in the VNL this year, joining two players from Pitt and one from each of Charlotte, Florida, Illinois, Miami (FL), Oregon, Texas A&M and Washington State. In total, 18 countries are represented with 30-player rosters, creating a pool of just 540 athletes selected to participate. A vast majority of the athletes selected consist of current professional players. Andrews is the first Falcon and believed to be the first MAC player selected to compete.
- Season Tickets Now On-Sale For 2025 BGSU Volleyball SeasonBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University ticket office announced Friday morning (April 18) that season tickets for the 2025 volleyball season are now on-sale. This includes both season ticket renewals and new season ticket members. The Falcons previously released the 2025 MAC schedule on April 1. The full schedule for the 2025 season will be released at a later date. Bowling Green is coming off a 2024 season that resulted in a MAC Championship and NIVC Runner-Up finish. The 2025 season will mark the first in the Alex DelPiombo Era of BGVB.
- Falcons Scheduled For Home Spring Match Friday Against FindlayBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team will wrap up their spring schedule on Friday (April 18) at home inside the Stroh Center. Bowling Green is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first serve against Findlay. The match between the Falcons and Oilers will be free to attend with doors opening an hour before the match at 5 p.m. Fans looking to attend can utilize the main Stroh Center entrance by the bronze Falcon statue to access the venue.

DelPiombo and the Falcons will welcome Chelsi Carter and Alexa Wharton as assistant coaches.
