Mayorga Wins 3-Meter Championship at Miami Classic

OXFORD, Ohio -- The BGSU diving team competed on Day 1 at the Miami Classic in the 3-meter competition as part of a tuneup for the MAC Championships coming in a few weeks.

OXFORD, Ohio -- The BGSU diving team competed on Day 1 at the Miami Classic in the 3-meter competition as part of a tuneup for the MAC Championships coming in a few weeks.

Natalia Mayorga claimed first in the competition, while two other Falcons made the final which consisted of the top eight divers from the prelims.

In the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center's 25-meter diving well that once served as a training facility for Olympic divers, Mayorga placed third in the prelims but clawed back to win in the finals with a score of 295.90.

It was Mayorga's fourth 3-meter victory of the season.

Elise Snyder (280.75) placed third, improving on her fifth-place finish in the prelims, while Evie Long (218.55) came in eighth as the other BGSU representation in the finals.

Claire Werner (237.80) narrowly missed qualifying for the finals, while Aylen Velazquez (234.85) and Victoria Miller (228.50) also competed in prelims. Miller's score was a lifetime best.

Up Next
The Falcons will be back on Saturday, February 8 for 1-meter competition with prelims starting at 10:10 a.m. The top eight finishers will advance to the finals at 2:40 p.m. Mayorga will compete in tower (platform) diving at 4:35 p.m. to end the day.
