Fremont Federal Credit Union to Sponsor the Battle of I-75 Rivalry Series
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Fremont Federal Credit Union has opened a new branch in Bowling Green, officially expanding its field of membership and taking a step forward in its mission to promote healthy financial living throughout Northwest Ohio.
Located at 1200 N. Main Street, the new Bowling Green branch marks the credit union's seventh location and its first in Wood County. It's also the first new branch opened since 2018.
"It was an easy choice to open a new branch location in Bowling Green. This is a vibrant, growing community, made up of families, professionals, retirees, and students. We're happy to be here and want to help our members grow and succeed," said Nick Cray, CEO of Fremont Federal Credit Union.
Demonstrating its commitment to the community, Fremont Federal Credit Union has also announced it will be the presenting sponsor of the Battle of I-75 Rivalry Series between the Bowling Green State University Falcons and the University of Toledo Rockets.
This new three-year partnership, focused primarily on football, will cover all rivalry games between the two universities across all sports.
"We are excited to partner with Fremont Federal Credit Union and welcome them as the new presenting sponsor of the I-75 Rivalry Series. This partnership reflects the deep ties between our universities and the communities we serve. The I-75 Rivalry between Bowling Green State University and The University of Toledo is built on a long-standing tradition of sportsmanship, spirited competition, and passionate support from fans across Northwest Ohio. With Fremont Federal Credit Union's support, we look forward to strengthening the community connections that make this rivalry so special and enhance the experiences that unite us both on and off the field," said Derek van der Merwe, Director of Athletics, Bowling Green State University.
"Rivalries are at the heart of what makes college sports special, and the intense competition between The University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University is no exception. The I-75 Rivalry Series ignites passion in our student-athletes, coaches, alumni, and fans across Northwest Ohio and beyond. We're thrilled that Fremont Federal Credit Union - a leader in our local business community - will be the presenting sponsor of this iconic series," said Bryan Blair, Director of Athletics, University of Toledo.
BGSU's head football coach Eddie George and Jason Candle with the University of Toledo were both at the ribbon cutting to kick off the partnership. The next football matchup for the I-75 Trophy will take place on October 11, 2025, at Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green.
"Here at Fremont Federal Credit Union, we believe in supporting the communities we serve, and this sponsorship is a great opportunity for us," said Cray. "We are dedicated to helping our members achieve their financial goals, and we offer products tailored to students, graduates, and their families, along with many local businesses, to help set them up for financial success."
Bowling Green, the county seat of Wood County, has a strong and diverse economy anchored by education, healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture and retail – making it an ideal location for both consumer and business banking services.
The new branch brings five full-time jobs to the area, and many local contractors contributed to transforming the former Premier Bank building into this new financial hub.
To celebrate the grand opening, Fremont Federal Credit Union is offering a special promotion for new and existing members: a 0% credit card balance transfer.
"We believe in offering our members the best advice, products and services to promote healthy financial living. Special promotions like the one we're running now supports this mission," said Bassam El Fadl, branch manager at the Bowling Green location.
As a member-owned credit union, Fremont Federal Credit Union is committed to giving back. Earlier this year, the board voted to give $500,000 back to its members through a special dividend, which will be distributed by June 30th. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Sandusky, Ottawa, Seneca, Wood, Hancock, Lucas and Fulton counties.
"As Fremont Federal Credit Union grows, one thing remains the same: a commitment to the people and communities it serves. We're proud to call Bowling Green home and look forward to helping our members – new and longtime – build brighter financial futures," said Cray.
