Fannin Named Mackey Award Player of the Week For Third Time This Season

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has earned John Mackey Award Player of the Week accolades for the second week in a row for games played through Sept. 29. It is the second career Mackey weekly award for Fannin. He also was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for the second-straight week. The John Mackey Award is a postseason award given to the nation's top tight end.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has earned John Mackey Award Player of the Week accolades for third time this season for games played through Oct. 20. It is the third career Mackey weekly award for Fannin. He also earned the accolade following BGSU's games against Texas A&M and Old Dominion. The John Mackey Award is a postseason award given to the nation's top tight end.

Fannin (Canton, Ohio) led the nation's tight ends in week No. 8 with 171 receiving yards on 10 receptions in BGSU's victory over Kent State. The 171 receiving yards were the second-best mark among all receivers this past weekend. Fannin notched 91 yards after catch and nine of his receptions went for first downs. The 171 yards is the third-best mark in a game by a BGSU tight end and Fannin now owns five of the top six single-game outputs by a Bowling Green tight end. Fannin leads all tight ends nationally in receptions (60), receiving yards (873), yards after catch (495), first downs (42), and broken tackles (21), while being tied for first in receiving touchdowns (5). According to Pro Football Focus, Fannin has the highest overall grade in the nation (97.4) and ranks No. 1 for pass routes grade (97.4) among all receivers. Among all players, Fannin is No. 3 in receptions, No. 3 in receiving yards, No. 1 in broken tackles, No. 1 in yards after catch, and No. 2 in first downs.

Fannin also earned John Mackey Award Player of the Week Honorable Mention accolades after BGSU's games at Penn State and at Akron. Fannin has surpassed 100+ yards in five of the Falcons' seven games this season.

The Falcons return to flight on Saturday when BGSU continues MAC play at Toledo. Kick is set for 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
