BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University quarterback Drew Pyne has been named a nominee for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, one of college football's most prestigious honors. Now in its 34th year, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team recognizes student-athletes for their commitment to community service, academic excellence, and impact on and off the field.

Pyne (Gr., New Canaan, Conn.) is entering his first season at Bowling Green after playing at Notre Dame, Arizona State and Missouri. While at Notre Dame, Pyne appeared in 17 games between 2020 and 2022, including 10 starts during the 2022 season. He led the Fighting Irish to an 8-2 record as a starter and finished the regular season ranked No. 20 in the nation in quarterback efficiency. His 2022 campaign included a 4-1 mark against Top 25 opponents, and he completed 22 touchdown passes with a 64.6 percent completion rate.

Among his standout performances at Notre Dame, Pyne threw three touchdown passes at North Carolina, the most by a Notre Dame quarterback in their first road start since 1994. He accounted for five total touchdowns against Navy, including four passing scores in the first half alone. In a primetime showdown against USC, Pyne completed his first 15 pass attempts and finished the night 23-for-26 through the air. His .884 completion percentage in that game ranks second all-time in a single contest in program history, trailing only Steve Beuerlein's mark of .909 set in 1984. Pyne also set a career high with 318 passing yards in that game, his first career 300-yard performance.

In 2023, Pyne transferred to Arizona State, where he appeared in two games before a season-ending injury. While with the Sun Devils, he connected with All-American running back Cam Skattebo on a career-long 52-yard completion against USC. Pyne then spent the 2024 season at Missouri, where he played in six games, including one start—a win over Oklahoma in which he threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns. He completed 49-of-82 pass attempts for 391 yards and three touchdowns on the year, finishing the season with 412 total yards of offense.

Pyne's impact extends well beyond the football field. During his time at Notre Dame, he volunteered regularly with the Boys & Girls Club in South Bend, Indiana, mentoring and engaging local youth through games, educational activities, and community events. He also worked with Cultivate Food Rescue, a nonprofit dedicated to combating food insecurity. There, he helped prepare and pack meals for underserved families in the South Bend community.

To be considered for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, nominees must be actively involved in charitable organizations or service groups while also maintaining strong academic standing. The final team will include 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III, and the NAIA, along with one honorary head coach. The final roster is selected by a voting panel made up of former Good Works Team members, current and former head coaches, and members of the media.
