Campbell, Felt Earn All-MAC Recognitions
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Awards for the 2024-25 men's basketball season Wednesday morning (March 12). Of those named, the Falcons collected three different honors from the conference. Javontae Campbell earned All-MAC Third Team as well as MAC All-Defensive Team honors while Jamai Felt was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team. Campbell and Felt continue a streak of 24 consecutive seasons with at least one Falcon named to an All-MAC team at the conclusion of the season.
Javontae Campbell, Junior, Guard: All-MAC Third Team, MAC All-Defensive Team
A native of Muskogee, Okla., Javontae Campbell put together a historic 2024-25 season for the Falcons, breaking BGSU's program record for steals in a season with 86. Campbell worked his way up to sixth on the MAC's list as well. His 86 steals and his 2.77 steals per game ranked fourth in the nation, being the only player from the MAC to rank inside the Top 10 in the nation for any defensive stat. In addition to his defensive prowess, Campbell finished the year second on the team in scoring with 467 points, averaging 15.1 per game. He's appeared in all 31 of BGSU's games, starting in 30, while posting eight 20-point games for the Falcons. He also posted the first triple-double by a Falcon in almost 20 years. His triple-double was one of just three by a MAC player this season and one of 26 in the nation. Campbell led the team in assists as well, averaging 3.0 per game.
Jamai Felt, Redshirt Freshman, Forward: MAC All-Freshman Team
From Boston, Mass., Jamai Felt earned his way into the BGSU starting lineup as a freshman after missing the last two seasons due to injury. Felt played in all 31 games for the Falcons, making 23 starts. This season, Felt recorded a MAC-leading 46 blocks, averaging 1.5 blocks per game. Felt was one of just two freshmen in the MAC to lead the conference in a stat. As for the conference season alone, Felt tallied 34 blocks and averaged 1.9 per game, leading the MAC in both stats. For the MAC season, Felt was the only freshman to lead the conference in a stat. Additionally, Felt led the Falcons in rebounding, averaging 6.3 boards per game, as well as field goal percentage, shooting 62.7-percent from the field. Felt rounded out his impressive freshman campaign by logging four double-doubles and seven games with double-digit rebounds.
