Derrick Butler Named MAC Co-Player Of The Week
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the men's basketball MAC Co-Players of the Week Monday afternoon (Dec. 9). This week's recipients consisted of two MAC Co-Players of the Week, including Bowling Green's Derrick Butler, a senior guard from Charlotte, N.C. Butler was joined in the honor by Miami (OH)'s Peter Suder. This marks the first award of Butler's BGSU career and he is the first Falcon to be named MAC Player of the Week this season.
Butler erupted for the Falcons against Morgan State, scoring 35 points. Not only was it a career-high for Butler, but the most points scored by anyone on BGSU's active roster. Butler began the day with 20 points in the first 14 minutes, finishing the first half with 22. He followed it up with another 13 in the second half. Butler hit six threes for the Falcons in the game, the most by a BGSU player this season. Butler added six rebounds to his stat line as well as an assist and a steal while leading BGSU to the team's first 100-point game against a Division-I opponent since 2021.

The Falcons will have their current homestand briefly interrupted with a road game at UMKC next Saturday (Dec. 14) scheduled for an 8 p.m. EST start. From there, BGSU men's hoops will return home to host St. Thomas on Dec. 21 and Aquinas College on Dec. 23.

The Falcons went to halftime trailing by just one, 46-45, staying within one up until 57-56. However, a 10-0 second half run for the Roos created space, maintaining the difference to the final. For Bowling Green, Javontae Campbell led the way with 27 points and five steals while Marcus Johnson tallied 22 points.
