BGSU Home Game Against Akron Selected For National Television, Moved To Jan. 9
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball home game against Akron has been selected for national television. The Mid-American Conference announced Thursday (Oct. 23) the ESPN and CBS Sports Network television windows for the first few weeks of the men's basketball conference season. Among those selected included the BGSU-Akron game, originally scheduled Jan. 10. The game will now be moved to Jan. 9 and will be aired nationally on CBS Sports Network with an 8 p.m. tip.
"We are always excited to represent BGSU on national TV," said head coach Todd Simon. "The opportunity to have our athletes and our program compete in a big game with a big audience is beneficial to us and our fans"
The game against Akron will mark the second home conference game for BGSU and the fifth overall in MAC play. The game against the Zips is currently set to be BGSU's first nationally televised game of the season. Bowling Green's last national TV game during the regular season was on the road at Toledo on CBS Sports Network last season on Feb. 21, capturing a 69-68 victory with a last-second bucket from Javontae Campbell.
The nationally televised game will continue a streak of now 11 seasons with a at least one regular season game nationally televised for the Falcons, dating back to the 2015-16 campaign. During that span, BGSU has had 17 games on CBS Sports Network, seven games on ESPNU, two games on ESPN2, two games on Big Ten Network, one game on FS2 and one game on ACC Network.
The Falcons are currently set to begin their 2025-26 campaign tonight (Oct. 23) with an exhibition against Michigan State at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. The game will mark the first of two exhibitions, also traveling to Dayton on Monday (Oct. 27) with both exhibitions scheduled for 7 p.m. tips. The regular season will begin for BGSU on Nov. 3 when they host Texas State, the first of three-straight home games for the Falcons to start the season.
