The Bears topped Central Pennsylvania College, 123-70, on Sunday (Dec. 1) before following it up with a 124-57 victory over Cheyney University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday (Dec. 4). The two wins snapped a four-game losing streak for Morgan State, including a loss to their lone MAC opponent this season, falling 82-73 to Buffalo on Nov. 22.
BGSU vs. Morgan State, All-Time
This will be the third meeting all-time between Bowling Green and Morgan State with the Falcons claiming the first two matchups. The most recent meeting came during the 2022-23 season with the Falcons securing a 10-point win, 86-76. Of the current roster, Sam Towns played in that game logging four rebounds and three points over 13 minutes of action. The first meeting between BGSU and MSU was in 2016-17 when the Falcons took a 90-58 final.
Campbell Enters Nation's Top 10
Javontae Campbell is making an impact for the Falcons on the defensive end of the court so far this season. Through the first eight games, Campbell has 23 steals for Bowling Green. The total has pushed Campbell inside the nation's top 10, being tied for seventh in the stat. Meanwhile, his 2.88 steals per game are tied for 10th in the nation with both stats leading the MAC. Last year with Northern Oklahoma, Campbell recorded 78 steals. With 31 games on the regular season schedule, Campbell is on pace for 89 steals this year, which would break Bowling Green's single-season steals record, currently set at 82.
Free Throw Falcons
Through the first eight games of the season, Bowling Green has become one of the best teams in the nation at the free throw line. Hooping During The Holiday Season
The Falcons have had good fortune during the month of December of late. Last year during Coach Simon's first season with the Falcons, Bowling Green went 5-0 in the month of December. In addition to the undefeated December record, the Falcons averaged an 18-point margin of victory during the month. This year, Bowling Green has four games in the month of December with three being at home. In addition to Morgan State, the Falcons will host St. Thomas on Dec. 21 and Aquinas College on Dec. 23. The team's lone road game will be at UMKC on Dec. 14.
Felt Finding Role
After missing his first two collegiate seasons due to injuries, Jamai Felt is finding his role and making his presence known for the Falcons. Through the first eight games of the season, Felt has seen his role increase, leading up to a career-high 30 minutes against New Mexico State. Against the Aggies, Felt hauled in a career-high 12 rebounds, the most by anyone on the roster in a Falcon uniform. Additionally, he's second on the team in blocks with seven.
