Opening Tip
The Falcons and Roos are scheduled for the third meeting all-time with it also marking the first trip to Kansas City for Bowling Green in program history. The two teams met just last season with Bowling Green claiming a 79-69 final at BGSU. The game will mark the lone road contest for BGSU in the month of December, interrupting a stretch of four home games in a five-game span for the Falcons. Bowling Green is coming off their first back-to-back wins of the season, topping New Mexico State, 61-60, and Morgan State, 102-81.

A Bowling Green Win Would…

  • Keep Bowling Green undefeated in the month of December during the Simon Era.
  • Give the Falcons three-straight wins for the first time this season with the last three-game streak being March 5-14 last season, beating Western Michigan, Ball State and Central Michigan.
  • Swing the all-time series against Kansas City to BGSU's favor with a 2-1 record against the Roos.
  • Push the Falcons back to .500 on the season with a 5-5 record.
  • Mark BGSU's first win in a true away game with the current road win being at a neutral site.

December's Good Tidings
The Falcons have had good fortune during the month of December during the Simon Era of BGSU men's basketball. Last year, the Falcons posted a record of 5-0 in the month of December. This year, they began the month with a 102-81 win over Morgan State for a 6-0 December record during the Simon Era. In addition to being undefeated in the month of December under Simon, the Falcons have also posted an average margin of victory of 18.7 points. Including Kansas City, the Falcons have three games left in December, hosting St. Thomas on Dec. 21 and Aquinas College on Dec. 23.

Scouting The Roos
Kansas City is coming off a midweek win over Portland on Tuesday (Dec. 10), winning 69-64. The win over the Pilots snapped a three-game losing streak for Kansas City, falling to Southeast Missouri State, Idaho and Montana State. For the Roos, they've tallied five wins this year, besting Hannibal-LaGrange, Kansas Christian, Calvary and Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras in addition to Portland. As a team, three players for Kansas City are averaging double-digit points, led by Jamar Brown's 15.2.

BGSU vs. Kansas City, All-Time
The Falcons and Roos have met twice before, including one meeting last season. Kansas City won the first meeting, back in 2016, but Bowling Green came away with the final in last year's matchup. Each of the previous two meetings were in Bowling Green, making this the first trip to Kansas City for BGSU in program history. Among returners for the Falcons in last year's game, Trey Thomas recorded seven points along with a team-high four assists and two steals. DaJion Humphrey added five points.

Campbell Stealing Stats
Through the first nine games of the season, Javontae Campbell has already placed himself among the nation's best in the steals category. For the Falcons, Campbell has logged a team-high and MAC-leading 27 steals this season, averaging 3.0 steals per game. For Campbell, his average steals per game are currently tied for fifth in the nation while his steals total is tied for seventh. At his current pace, with 31 games on the regular season schedule, Campbell is projected to log 93 steals, which would shatter BGSU's single-season steals record, currently set at 82 by DeMar Moore in 1996-97.

Free Throw Falcons
Through the first nine games of the season, Bowling Green has become one of the best teams in the nation at the free throw line. This year, the Falcons are shooting 80.6% at the free throw line, leading the MAC and ranking 10th in the nation. Over the last six games, Bowling Green has shot 85% or better at the line four times and above 90% twice. During the five-game stretch, the Orange and Brown are 91-of-107 at the line for an 85.0-percent mark. Individually, Marcus Johnson leads the team, shooting 96.2-percent at the line with just one miss on 26 attempts. Johnson is tied for fourth in the nation individually and leads the MAC in free throw percentage.

BGSU Against The Three
Bowling Green entered the top 50 in the nation against the three-point shot, allowing teams to shoot just 29.0-percent from behind the three-point arc. So far this season, BGSU has held teams below 30-percent from deep five times through nine games. Only three teams have shot 40-percent or better against the Falcons from three this year and only two teams have registered double-digit triples with Davidson making 10 and Niagara 12.
