BGSU Men’s Hoops, Taylor Version; Falcons Set To Host Taylor Trojans Monday Night
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will remain home for their second consecutive game at the Stroh Center. BGSU will host Taylor University Monday night (Nov. 11) with a scheduled 7 p.m. tip off. The Falcons are coming off a close contest with Davidson in the home opener, seeking their first win of the 2024-25 season.. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ with a radio feed from Todd Walker on WFRO Eagle 99.
Opening Tip
The Falcons and Trojans will be meeting for the first time in program history, making Taylor the 322nd unique opponent in BGSU's program history. For Veteran's Day, it will be Local Heroes Night at the Stroh Center.
A Bowling Green Win Would…
- Mark the first program win over Taylor, giving Bowling Green wins over 265 different teams over the program's history.
- Snap a two-game losing streak to the start of the season, avoiding the first 0-3 start since the 2016-17 campaign.
- Move the Falcons back to .500 at home (1-1) this season while being 1-2 on the season.
- Give the Falcons 127 wins inside the Stroh Center since it opened ahead of the 2011-12 season.
Scouting The Trojans
The Trojans of Taylor already has five games under their belts this season, all at home, posting a 4-1 record. Taylor began the season with four straight wins, topping La Sierra, Justice College, Adrian and Siena Heights. The Trojans are coming off a loss to IU Kokomo on Friday (Nov. 8) that ended the hot start. The game against the Falcons will mark the first road trip of the season for Taylor. Through five games, the Trojans have had four different scoring leaders. However, Anton Webb has led the team in rebounds in all five games.
BGSU v. Taylor, All-Time
This will be the first meeting all-time between Bowling Green and Taylor. The Trojans will be the 322nd unique opponent for the Falcons during the history of the program, dating back to 1915-16. Taylor will be the second new addition to the BGSU all-time records, joining Southern Miss from the season opener. Last year, Bowling Green added four new teams to the list. In addition to having played 322 different teams over the course of the program's history, the Falcons have tallied wins against 264 different teams.
The Campbell-Hill Road
In the home opener for BGSU, Javontae Campbell filled the Marcus Hill role familiar to Falcon fans from a season ago. Campbell logged 30 points in the game for the Falcons, including 22 in the second half alone marking the first 30-point game and 20-point half since Hill last season. During a stretch in the second half, Campbell tallied 15-straight BGSU points. He also went 10-of-12 at the free throw line. In addition to Campbell's scoring habits, he added four steals in the contest, registering four steals in each of the first two BGSU games this season. Campbell is tied for ninth in the nation and second in the MAC for both total steals and steals per game.
Painting The Towns
Through the first two games of the season, Sam Towns has dominated in the paint for the Falcons. After hauling in 10 rebounds in the season opener for BGSU, Towns followed it up with 11 rebounds in the home opener. Towns is now averaging nine defensive rebounds per game, having nine in each, sitting atop the MAC and tied for 12th in the nation. On top of Towns' rebounding abilities through the first two games, he also flexed his blocking skills with four against Davidson. Towns' five blocks on the season are tied for first in the MAC and 29th in the country.
Falcons Behind The Arc
In each of the first two games this season, Bowling Green has made at least 10 three-pointers, hitting 11 against Southern Miss and 10 against Davidson. Last year, the Falcons averaged 6.4 threes per game. Leading the charge for the Falcons has been Marcus Johnson and Trey Thomas. Thomas connected on five triples in the game against Southern Miss with Johnson doing the same in the game against Davidson. In total, six different Falcons have made a three this season with nine different players attempting a three.

A native of Wheaton, Ill., Glover was named the 2024-25 Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-Defensive honors from the conference as well.
- Falcons Sign PBC Freshman Of The Year Josiah ShackelfordBOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program and head coach Todd Simon announced the signing of Josiah Shackelford on Thursday (April 24). Shackelford, a 6-foot-4 guard, will join the Falcons after playing the 2024-25 season at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. A native of Sanford, Fla., Shackelford was named the 2024-25 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and earned All-Conference Third-Team honors as well.
- Felt, Humphrey Named Academic All-MACCLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced Friday afternoon (April 4) the 2024-25 Men's Basketball Academic All-MAC Team. A total of 29 student-athletes were named across the conference with Bowling Green totaling two with Jamai Felt and DaJion Humphrey being named. Western Michigan led the way in the MAC with five, followed closely by Toledo's four.
- Falcons Late Season Surge Comes To Close In MAC QuarterfinalsCLEVELAND, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team kicked off the 2024-25 MAC Men's Basketball Tournament in Cleveland on Thursday (March 13) inside Rocket Arena. Bowling Green took on the top-seeded Akron Zips in the first game of the tournament on the men's side. For the Falcons, Marcus Johnson led the way with 23 points, including five three-pointers, while Jamai Felt added 12 points and Javontae Campbell tallied 10 points and swiped four steals for the Orange and Brown. Despite the efforts, Akron came away with a 96-67 final. For Bowling Green, the loss closes out a stretch to end the year that included wins in seven of their last 11 contests.
- Campbell, Felt Earn All-MAC RecognitionsCLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Awards for the 2024-25 men's basketball season Wednesday morning (March 12). Of those named, the Falcons collected three different honors from the conference. Javontae Campbell earned All-MAC Third Team as well as MAC All-Defensive Team honors while Jamai Felt was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team. Campbell and Felt continue a streak of 24 consecutive seasons with at least one Falcon named to an All-MAC team at the conclusion of the season.
