BGSU Men’s Hoops Adds EKU Transfer Forward Mayar Wol Ahead Of 2025-26 Campaign
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program and head coach Todd Simon announced the signing of Mayar Wol on Friday (August 22). Wol, a 6-foot-8 forward, will join the Falcons after spending the 2024-25 season with Eastern Kentucky. A native of Raleigh, N.C., Wol played in 32 games for the Colonels last season, including 20 starts while averaging 23.8 minutes per game. Wol comes to BGSU with two years of eligibility remaining.
"Mayar is a proven impactful player that fits what we do very well," said Simon. "His skill level and length at his position are valuable. He's an excellent rebounder, can really shoot and thrives in playing up tempo. Defensively, his versatility and length will be fits for our schemes. His accolades and coming from winning programs is exciting for us."
During the 2024-25 season, Wol made his mark on the Atlantic Sun Conference, earning Sixth Man of the Year honors. Appearing in 32 games with 20 starts, Wol averaged 8.9 points per game for EKU while shooting 40.4-percent from the field. He added a 32.9-percent mark from three and a 75.5-percent clip at the free throw line. Wol rounded out his season stat line with 154 rebounds, averaging 4.8 per game, to go along with 28 assists, 26 steals and 14 blocks. During the course of the campaign, he tallied double-digit points in 13 games, including two 20-point outings in back-to-back games against West Georgia (Feb. 13) and Queens (Feb. 15).
Wol began his collegiate career at the College of Charleston in 2023-24. He appeared in 22 games for the Cougars, averaging 5.2 minutes per contest. Wol totaled 25 points, 33 rebounds, six steals, four assists and a block over his 114 minutes of action. Wol arrived in Charleston after attending Word of God Christian Academy where he was the 90th ranked recruit in the country by 247Sports.

The Cup will take place later this month in Nicaragua, scheduled for August 22-31. The Bahamas will be part of Group A, joined by the United States, Brazil and Uruguay. The first game for the Bahamas will be against the United States on August 23. Following completion of the tournament, Nairn is set to return to Bowling Green and resume his duties as associate head coach.

This year, Bowling Green received the Team Academic Excellence Award with six players being named to the Honors Court.
