Two BGSU Men’s Basketball Home Games Selected For National Television
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team has had two games selected for national television. The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday (Oct. 22) that the Falcons' home games against Akron and Toledo will be aired nationally on CBS Sports Network. The announcement will move the game against Akron to Jan. 3 and the game against Toledo to Jan. 24, both of which will be 6 p.m. tips at the Stroh Center.
"We are excited to be chosen for these national TV games," said head coach Todd Simon. "Any chance we get to represent BGSU on a major stage, it is a win for our great university. We look forward to not only performing but also the opportunity to share the spotlight with our students, band, cheer and dance and our loyal Falcon fan base."
The game against Akron will be the MAC opener for not only for the Falcons, but for the conference, serving as the first conference game of the season for men's basketball. As for Toledo, it will be the second-straight BGSU home game against the rival Rockets on national TV with last year's matchup being on ESPNU on Feb. 23. Both of the selected games were originally scheduled for Saturdays and were moved to Fridays with the change.
The game against the Zips is currently set to be BGSU's first nationally televised game of the season. Bowling Green's last national TV game during the regular season was on the road at Ohio on CBS Sports Network last season on March 1. The Falcons were also on CBS Sports Network during the MAC Tournament against Kent State on March 15.
