BGSU Basketball To Host Second Annual Hoops Night On Oct. 23
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University basketball teams will once again be hosting their season tip-off event "Hoops Night" on Wednesday, October 23 at 7 p.m. at the Stroh Center. This event is free of charge as it gives the Bowling Green community a chance to interact with the Men's and Women's basketball teams.
Prior to the event, fans can pick up team posters, schedule cards, and different fun giveaways from the BGSU Student Engagement. Current BGSU Junior Clayton Skulina will be the host for the evening for this fan-favorite event. Skulina will introduce each team one-by-one onto the court, followed by several competitions where fans will have an opportunity to compete to earn prizes, including two $5,000 Half Court Challenge shots where two students will have the opportunity to win $5,000.
Competitions Include:
- Shooting Stars Competition
- One coach and player from each team will be joined by a fan to go head-to-head for 60 seconds to make as many baskets as possible.
- $5,000 Half Court Challenge #1
- Knockout Competition
- Two players from each team as well as four fans will be competing under standard knockout rules.
- $5,000 Half Court Challenge #2
- Three Point Contest
- There will be two players and two fans who will participate to see which team can make the most three-point shots.
- Dunk Showcase
After the event concludes players and coaches will be available to the public for autographs. Members of the media interested in attending the event should reach out to the BGSU Athletics Strategic Communications staff with any interview requests.

- Two BGSU Men’s Basketball Home Games Selected For National TelevisionBOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team has had two games selected for national television. The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday (Oct. 22) that the Falcons' home games against Akron and Toledo will be aired nationally on CBS Sports Network. The announcement will move the game against Akron to Jan. 3 and the game against Toledo to Jan. 24, both of which will be 6 p.m. tips at the Stroh Center.
- The Falcons Nest Coaches Show with Todd Walker Returns Tonight with Scot Loeffler, Fred Chmiel and Todd SimonBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The weekly "Falcons Nest Coaches Show" radio program, presented by Fricker's, returns Monday night on Falcon Sports Radio Network stations. Bowling Green head football head coach Scot Loeffler and women's basketball head coach Fred Chmiel and men's basketball head coach Todd Simon will join the "Voice of the Falcons" Todd Walker from 6-7 p.m. at the Bowling Green Fricker's. Coach Loeffler will kick off the show at 6 p.m.
- BGSU Men’s Hoops To Host Davidson In Non-Conference PlayBOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program has announced the non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 campaign, completing the team's full schedule for the season. BGSU and the MAC released the conference schedule on August 14. In total, the Falcons will play 12 non-conference games and 18 MAC games for a total of 30 on the regular season schedule. During the 2024-25 non-conference schedule, the Falcons are set to host Davidson, Taylor, Niagara, Morgan State and St. Thomas while traveling to Southern Miss, Michigan State, Bellarmine and UMKC as well as the Arizona Tip-Off.
- Simon Announces Additions Of Newkirk, Abrams, MacRitchie To Men's Basketball StaffBOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University head men's basketball coach Todd Simon announced the hiring of Jason Newkirk, Aleks Abrams and Dillon MacRitchie to his staff at BGSU. Newkirk will serve as an assistant coach, Abrams will be the special assistant to the head coach and MacRitchie will be the director of basketball operations. Newkirk joins the Falcons after six years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, most recently serving as the Director of Recruiting. Abrams comes to Bowling Green after serving as a Video and Player Development Coaching Associate with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2023-24 season. MacRitchie remains on staff after spending the last two seasons as a Graduate Manager with the Falcons and seasons prior as a student manager.

The Falcons are set to play 18 games within the Mid-American Conference, hosting nine and traveling for nine. The non-conference portion of the 2024-25 schedule for Bowling Green as well as game times and TV designations will be announced at a later date.
