Bowling Green Adds GLVC Defensive Player Of The Year Troy Glover II
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program and head coach Todd Simon announced the signing of Troy Glover II on Thursday (April 24). Glover, a 6-foot-10 forward, will join the Falcons after spending the last two seasons with the University of Missouri-St. Louis. A native of Wheaton, Ill., Glover was named the 2024-25 Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-Defensive honors from the conference as well.
"Troy is an exceptional person and player that will impact our program from day one," said Simon, "He is a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball with his rim protection, athleticism, and versatility. His continued development and growth mindset are exciting to work with. On the offensive side, he can really run the floor, provides us with an above the rim lob threat and a guy that scores off the bounce in space."
During the 2024-25 campaign, Glover appeared in 33 games for Missouri-St. Louis while making 32 starts. He averaged 29.2 minutes, 10.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while shooting 62.5-percent from the field. Defensively, Glover led the league in blocked shots, both total (67) and average (2.0). His 67 blocks ranked 10th in Division II while his average finished the season 16th. He also finished second in the conference for rebounds per game, averaging 8.6, while totaling a conference-best 285. Glover capped off his stat line with 32 steals and 27 assists for the Tritons.
In Glover's first season with UMSL in 2023-24, he appeared in 29 games with 21 starts. He led the team in both rebounding (8.1 per game) and blocked shots (49) while averaging 10.1 points per game, finishing fourth on the team. He added 25 steals to his stat line, finishing third on the team. Over his two seasons with the Tritons, Glover posted a total of 35 games with double-digit points, 24 games with double-digit rebounds, 20 double-doubles and two 20-point games.
Glover began his collegiate career at Trinity Christian College. In his lone season, he averaged 12.1 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game. He tallied 18 double-digit scoring outings and 10 double-digit rebounding games while totaling 10 double-doubles. During the season, he totaled 103 blocks, ranking third in the country across all levels, earning CCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. At the conclusion of the season he added CCAC All-Freshman and NCCAA All-North Central Region to his list of accolages. In high school, Glover played for Glenbard West while also spending time in AAU with the Big 3 AAU and Y&R programs.

Shackelford, a 6-foot-4 guard, will join the Falcons after playing the 2024-25 season at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. A native of Sanford, Fla., Shackelford was named the 2024-25 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and earned All-Conference Third-Team honors as well.
- Felt, Humphrey Named Academic All-MACCLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced Friday afternoon (April 4) the 2024-25 Men's Basketball Academic All-MAC Team. A total of 29 student-athletes were named across the conference with Bowling Green totaling two with Jamai Felt and DaJion Humphrey being named. Western Michigan led the way in the MAC with five, followed closely by Toledo's four.
- Falcons Late Season Surge Comes To Close In MAC QuarterfinalsCLEVELAND, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team kicked off the 2024-25 MAC Men's Basketball Tournament in Cleveland on Thursday (March 13) inside Rocket Arena. Bowling Green took on the top-seeded Akron Zips in the first game of the tournament on the men's side. For the Falcons, Marcus Johnson led the way with 23 points, including five three-pointers, while Jamai Felt added 12 points and Javontae Campbell tallied 10 points and swiped four steals for the Orange and Brown. Despite the efforts, Akron came away with a 96-67 final. For Bowling Green, the loss closes out a stretch to end the year that included wins in seven of their last 11 contests.
