Opening Tip
The Falcons and Chanticleers will be meeting for the first time in program history, marking the 326th different opponent for Bowling Green and the sixth new addition this year. This will be the fourth edition in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge and the second this year. BGSU's first this year was against Southern Miss while Coastal Carolina took on Western Michigan. Across the first three MAC-Sun Belt matchups, the home teams have a record of 25-11, including Bowling Green winning their home game last year over Arkansas State, 81-75. The game will mark the second of three consecutive home games for the Orange and Brown, a stretch that spans to four home games in a five-game stretch.

A Bowling Green Win Would…

  • Give the Falcons back-to-back wins for the first time Nov. 30-Dec. 7 when BGSU bested New Mexico State and Morgan State.
  • Go down as the first win over Coastal Carolina in program history, giving the Falcons wins against 267 different opponents in program history.
  • Push Bowling Green back above .500 during the Coach Simon Era with a 29-28 record.
  • Make the Orange and Brown 2-2 all-time in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge and 1-1 this season.

Campbell Moves Up Program List
Javontae Campbell again moved up the program's all-time list for career steals. Campbell is now sixth on the list with 69, passing Anthony Henderson's 66 from the 2013-14 season. The next step will be fourth all-time, which is currently a tie between Anthony Stacey (1996-97) and David Jenkins (1981-82) with 72. Campbell's 3.14 steals per game are now third in the nation. At his current pace with 31 games on BGSU's schedule, Campbell is on track to tally 97 steals during the regular season. The current BGSU single-season steals record is set at 82 by DeMar Moore in 1996-97. As for the MAC steals record, it's held by Ball State's Bonzi Wells with 103 during the 1997-98 campaign.

Scouting The Chanticleers
Coastal Carolina enters the weekend with an 8-16 record on the season while being 1-11 within the Sun Belt. The lone win in conference play for Coastal came against UL Monroe on Jan. 4 with a 70-51 final. Since then, they've dropped nine straight. As for games on the road, the Chants are 3-11 this year with the wins being a neutral site against IU Indy as well as true road wins at Campbell and North Carolina A&T. In their first MAC-Sun Belt game, Coastal Carolina edged out Western Michigan at home, 60-56.

BGSU vs. Coastal Carolina, All-Time
The Falcons and Chanticleers will be meeting for the first time in program history, marking the 326th unique opponent for the Falcons. Coastal Carolina is the sixth team to join the list this year, joining Southern Miss, Taylor University, Weber State, St. Thomas and Aquinas. This will mark the fourth game in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge for the Falcons, taking on Arkansas State and Louisiana last year while playing Southern Miss earlier this season. BGSU is 1-2 in the challenge, but the win came during last year's home game.

Johnson Records Double-Double
Marcus Johnson registered his first double-double of the season against Northern Illinois, scoring 22 points to go along with a career-high 13 rebounds, the most by a Falcon this year. Johnson now has nine 20-point games for Bowling Green this season and is averaging 17.0 points per game. For the season, he is leading the conference and is the only player averaging more than 16.5 points per game in the MAC. As for the conference season, Johnson is averaging 16.7 points per game, second in the MAC behind only Eastern Michigan's Christian Henry (17.2).

Humphrey Nearing 1,000 Points
This season, Bowling Green has already had two players eclipse 1,000 career points with Trey Thomas and Derrick Butler. Entering the season, Marcus Johnson and Javontae Campbell had already reached the mark. Now, DaJion Humphrey is next on the list. After missing time due to an injury, Humphrey has returned to the lineup for the Falcons over the last five games, including starts against Kent State and Northern Illinois. Against NIU, Humphrey tallied a season-high 11 points and now has 967 for his collegiate career, leaving him 33 shy of reaching the career milestone. For his time as a Falcon, Humphrey is averaging 5.2 points per game with nine games left in the regular season.

Ball Movement Making Waves
The Falcons impressed in the assist column in the win over Northern Illinois finishing with 15 assists, the most by BGSU since having 18 against Miami (OH). When Bowling Green has 15 or more assists in a game this season, the team is 5-1 with the only loss being to Miami. The story is similar across the season. In wins this year, the Orange and Brown are averaging 14.9 assists per game. However, in losses the average drops to 9.1 assists per game.

Winning The Turnover Battle
In the win over NIU, the Falcons committed fewer turnovers than the Huskies, a trend that matches the season. Bowling Green is 7-3 this year when having fewer turnovers than their opponent, but are 0-8 when having more turnovers than their opponent. In wins this year, the Falcons average just 10.3 turnovers per game. However, in losses that number moves 12.9.

BGSU's Double-Digit Scorers
This season, BGSU has had 11 different players log at least one double-digit scoring game. DaJion Humphrey was the most recent addition to the list, tallying a season-high 11 points against Northern Illinois. He joined a list of Javontae Campbell, Marcus Johnson, Derrick Butler, Trey Thomas, Youssef Khayat, Braelon Green, Jamai Felt, Wilguens Jr. Exacte, Preston Squire and Sam Towns as players with a double-digit game for the Falcons this season. Alabama A&M leads the nation for the most double-digit scorers with 15. VMI followed with 13 while 13 different teams had 12.
