Standout Golfer Hudak Returns as Assistant Coach
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Head coach John Powers of the BGSU men's golf team has announced that Darin Hudak, a recent graduate from the program, will be returning as an assistant coach for the upcoming year. With Hudak's addition, coach Powers has rounded out his staff for the upcoming season and continues to build momentum for the program's fall slate of tournaments, beginning in just a few weeks.
"We have hit a home run with our staff this year," said Powers. "Darin has a relentless work ethic and endless pursuit of self-improvement. Combined with the addition of Tyler, our student-athletes will have a tremendous depth of resources for development."
Hudak joins the staff shortly after it was announced that Tyler Nickol will be serving as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's golf programs. Both Nickol and Hudak bring significant NCAA golf experience, as they were both standout golfers at their respective programs. Over his career at BGSU, Hudak maintained a scoring average of 73.8, the second best in program history. In his junior and senior seasons, he averaged 72.9 and 73.1 respectively, which comprise the 3rd and 4th best single season scoring averages in program history.
During his time as a Falcon, Hudak was recognized with a number of accolades, as he was named Academic All-Mid American Conference (MAC) three times, a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholar three times and during his senior year, he was awarded a MAC Medal of Excellence for his performance in the classroom and on the course, as well as for his leadership and service.
Hudak will assist in all areas of the program, with his primary focus being on player development and brand enhancement. The Falcons will open up their fall slate of tournaments in just a few weeks, as they will travel to Rochester Hills, Mich. on Sep. 13-14 for the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate hosted by Oakland University.
