Nickol Tabbed as Men's Assistant Golf Coach

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Head coach John Powers of the BGSU men's golf team has announced the addition of Tyler Nickol to the coaching staff for the upcoming year. A native of Avon, Ind., Nickol brings an impressive resume of collegiate golf experience, as he was a standout performer on the men's golf team at Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) from 2021-2024.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Head coach John Powers of the BGSU men's golf team has announced the addition of Tyler Nickol to the coaching staff for the upcoming year. A native of Avon, Ind., Nickol brings an impressive resume of collegiate golf experience, as he was a standout performer on the men's golf team at Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) from 2021-2024.

"I am honored to join the men's golf program at Bowling Green State University," said Nichol, "As I step into this new role, I look forward to working alongside coach John Powers to support the development of our current and future student-athletes — both on and off the course. I'm excited to bring my experiences as a former collegiate player and coach to the program."

During his time at KWC, Nickol earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) All-Conference honors twice (2022-23, 2023-24), Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholar status in 2024, and during that same year, won the 2024 GMAC Championships, shooting a 209 and finishing -7 under par. 

Prior to working at BGSU, Nickol spent time working as an Assistant Golf Professional at Ulen Country Club in Lebanon, Ind., where he gained experience analyzing and instructing golf at a range of levels. 

Prior to his time at Ulen, Nickol spent worked as a Tournament Operations Intern at the American Junior Golf Association. In this role, he gained experience in the event planning and administrative areas of golf, helping run tournaments at the junior levels.
