Preview: Men's Golf Opens Play at Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The BGSU men's golf team will kick off its fall slate of tournaments this weekend, Sep. 13-14, as they travel to Rochester Hills, Mich. for the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate hosted by Oakland University. The tournament will be 3 rounds, totaling 54 holes and will be held at Katke-Cousins Golf Course, which is a par 72, totaling 7,273 yards. The Falcons had a strong showing at the Golden Grizzlies in 2024, as they finished fourth out of the 15 team field, shooting an 886 (+22) as a team.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 am ET on Saturday, Sep. 13. Rounds one and two will be played on Saturday, with the tournament concluding with the final round on Sunday. The final round on Sunday will also begin with a shotgun start at 8 am ET.
The Lineup
Teeing off for the Falcons at the Golden Grizzlies will be newcomers Angelo Luciani, Pedro Garcia, and David Chavez along with returners Andrew Lee and Charlie Pettrone. Senior Ethan Irvine will also be competing individually. Along with incoming players making their debuts on the course, assistant coaches Tyler Nickol and Darin Hudak will be making their debuts on the coaching staff for the Falcons.
The Field
Twelve teams will be competing at the Golden Grizzlies including fellow Mid-American Conference (MAC) schools Toledo and Ohio University. Also in contention will be Oakland, Northern Kentucky, Butler, Wright State, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Indiana University-Indianapolis, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy and Purdue University-Fort Wayne.
