Jack Bennett Joins BGSU Men's Soccer Coaching Staff

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University men's soccer head coach Eric Nichols has announced the hiring of Jack Bennett to his staff. Bennett brings a wide range of experiences to the Falcons, particularly in the area of goalkeeper coaching.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jack to our coaching staff," said Nichols. "His expertise will be invaluable to our goalkeeping corps, and his insight and experience will make him a tremendous asset to our entire coaching team."

Bennett joins the Falcons after spending the last eight months as Director of Goalkeeping at Gretna Elite Academy in Gretna, Neb. He began working with that organization in September of 2023, working with all of the clubs' boys and girls goalkeepers throughout his time there.

Additionally, Bennett was head goalkeeper coach for all boys and girls 'keepers in the ODP program in Nebraska, was the head coach for the 2009 Boys team, and served as assistant coach of the 2013 Boys teams.

"I am extremely excited to be joining the BGSU community and feel immensely privileged for the opportunity to join such an ambitious and talented soccer program," said Bennett. "Eric is very intentional about fostering and representing the culture that is BG Men's Soccer, and I'm looking forward to contributing toward that culture, and learning from this fantastic group of staff and players along the way."

Bennett served as a goalkeeper coach at Concordia (Neb.) University, his alma mater, from 2020-22, During that time, he worked with both the women's and men's programs, and coached three all-conference goalkeepers, in addition to helping guide the women's team to the 2020 GPAC championship.

During the 2019-20 season, Bennett played semi-professional soccer for several teams in tiers six and seven of English football, including AFC Bradford Park Avenue, Stratford Town FC and Kettering Town FC.

Bennett was a two-time all-conference second-team selection during his collegiate playing days at Concordia, earning those honors in 2017 and 2018. In the fall of '18, he was also named to the NAIA All-Plains Region Second team, despite missing eight matches due to injury. Bennett served as team captain that fall, and in the 11 matches in which he saw action, he had 47 saves and a goals-against average of 1.56.

The 2017 season had seen Bennett record a total of 17 wins, which remains the school single-season record. He also set a Concordia single-season record for lowest GAA (0.82) that fall, ranking in the top 10 of all NAIA 'keepers in that '17 campaign.

Bennett earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in fitness studies from Concordia in 2019, and received an MBA from the school in 2022.

A native of Oxford, England, Bennett is studying for his US Soccer 'C' license and holds a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma.
