Falcons Land 12 on 2024 CSC Academic All-District® Soccer Team
The Bowling Green State University soccer teams have landed a total of 12 student-athletes on the 2024 Academic All-District® Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Six men's soccer and six women's soccer Falcons have been named to their respective squads, which were announced Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 19).
On the men's side, Alberto Anaya, Jake Bergin, Kyle Cusimano, Josh Erlandson, Brendan Graves and Andrew Shaffer all earned the academic all-district honor, and all six have been recognized for at least the second time. Graves was named to the team for the third-straight season, while Anaya, Bergin and Shaffer all earn academic all-district accolades for the second consecutive season. Both Cusimano and Erlandson were named to the team in 2022 before missing much of the 2023 season due to injuries.
For the BGSU women, Emme Butera, Lexi Czerwien, Jaden Frigerio, Isabelle Gilmore, Taylor Green and Emma Stransky all were named to the team. Czerwien and Gilmore are repeat selections to the team, while sophomores Butera, Green and Stransky all earn the honor in their first season of eligibility.
Five Falcons -- Anaya, Cusimano and Graves on the men's side, and women's soccer standouts Butera and Czerwien -- were named CSC Academic All-America® finalists, and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
As mentioned, selected Academic All-District® team members advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 10 (men) and December 11 (women).
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
