Seven Falcons Named to Academic All-MAC Team
A total of seven Bowling Green State University women's basketball student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league office announced Thursday afternoon (April 17). The Falcons' list of honorees includes Jasmine Fearne, Lexi Fleming, Paige Kohler, Keiryn McGuff, Erika Porter, Emily Siesel and Amy Velasco.
BGSU's total of seven student-athletes named to the team is tied for the highest in the MAC.
Velasco earns the honor for the third consecutive season, while Siesel has been named to the team for the second-straight year. Fleming is also a two-time selection, having made the team in 2022-23.
A total of 47 student-athletes were selected to the team. Ten of those 47 had a 4.00 grade point average at the time of nomination. BGSU was the only school with three student-athletes (Kohler, Siesel and Velasco) who maintain a perfect 4.00 GPA. Western Michigan (two) was the only other school with more than one.
The Academic All-MAC Team honor is bestowed upon those who have excelled in both athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. True freshmen and transfers in their first academic year at their current school are not eligible for the Academic All-MAC Team.
