Chmiel, Falcons Add Jaedyn Cook

BGSU women's basketball coach Fred Chmiel has announced the addition of Jaedyn Cook (Richmond, Va.) to the roster. Cook comes to BGSU after spending the 2024-25

Bowling Green State University women's basketball coach Fred Chmiel has announced the addition of Jaedyn Cook (Richmond, Va.) to the roster. Cook comes to BGSU after spending the 2024-25 season at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas.

"Jaedyn has experience at the Division-I level and brings size, speed and an explosive skill set at the forward position," said Chmiel. "Her upside will be immense because of her thirst to get better everyday."

Cook, a 6-3 forward, played in all 28 games for Odessa in '24-25, making 18 starts and leading the Wranglers in scoring and rebounding. She had 10.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, shooting 47.0 percent from the field and 72.5% from the free-throw line. Cook was second on the team in blocked shots and third in steals.

In conference action, Cook had 10.4 points and 6.2 boards per game. The Wranglers finished with records of 19-9 overall and 10-4 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play, and advanced to the NJCAA Region V Tournament.

Cook scored in double figures 15 times, including a pair of 20-point games. She scored a season-high 23 points, going 10-for-15 from the floor, in a win over Western Texas, and also made 10 of her 15 shots from the field en route to 20 points in a win over Wayland Baptist.

Cook has prior NCAA Division-I experience, having spent the 2023-24 academic year at East Carolina University. Cook played in 11 games off the bench for the Pirates, averaging 0.4 points and 0.8 rebounds.

On the season, Cook had totals of four points and nine rebounds. She blocked two shots against Charleston Southern. The Pirates finished with a 19-14 overall record and a 9-9 mark in the American Athletic Conference.

Cook was a four-time First-Team All-State honoree at John Marshall H.S., and was a three-time VHSL (Virginia High School League) Region 2A Player of the Year for the Justices, who won a pair of regional championships and one state title during her tenure.

Cook was a member of the National Honor Society as well.

Cook is one of three student-athletes who have recently transferred to BGSU, joining Joniyah Bland-Fitzpatrick and Kaia Woods.

"All three will provide us with areas that needed improvement including toughness, speed and athleticism," said Chmiel. "They will be great assets to our team, university and community."
