Chmiel, Falcons Announce 2025-26 Schedule
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSU Strategic Comm.) – Bowling Green State University women's basketball head coach Fred Chmiel and the Falcons have announced the schedule for the 2025-26 season.
The Falcons' schedule includes a season-long, five-game homestand between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, as well as trips to the states of Louisiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Alaska during the non-conference portion of the season.
Tickets are on sale now for the Falcons' home games, which include contests vs. Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 30 – home opener), Kentucky State (Dec. 3), Defiance (Dec. 7) and Le Moyne (Dec. 16) in non-conference play, along with nine Mid-American Conference matchups and a February game in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
The regular-season schedule begins with a MAC-Sun Belt Challenge contest, as BGSU hits the road to face Louisiana on Nov. 3. That is the first of six-straight games away from home to start the season.
"This year's schedule is an exciting opportunity to play highly competitive basketball against a variety of teams throughout the country," said Chmiel. "Providing great experiences for our student athletes is a priority and this schedule promotes that. We look forward to the challenges of our pre-conference and conference schedule."
BGSU will face perennial powerhouse South Carolina on Nov. 7, before heading to the state of Wisconsin to face both Wisconsin (Nov. 12) and Marquette (Nov. 14) the following week.
Then, the Orange and Brown will venture to Alaska for the Great Alaska Shootout (Nov. 21-22). BGSU will meet UC Irvine in the first round of the tourney, and will face either St. Thomas or the host school, Alaska-Anchorage, the following night.
The Falcons' 18-game league slate includes five Saturday games at the Stroh Center. The MAC schedule begins with a home game on the Saturday prior to Christmas, as BGSU will host Kent State on Dec. 20.
Chmiel's club will commence the road portion of the conference schedule 10 days later – Tuesday, Dec. 30 –with a short trip north, as BGSU will face Eastern Michigan.
The 18-game league slate features two games each against arch-rival Toledo, Central Michigan, KSU, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Western Michigan. BGSU will meet Akron, Ball State, Buffalo, EMU, Massachusetts and Miami one time each.
Both 2025-26 editions of 'The Battle of I-75' will take place on Saturdays, as the Falcons head to the Glass City on Jan. 31, with the Rockets venturing inside the Stroh Center on Feb. 21.
The Falcons' home portion of the conference schedule also includes dates with Central Michigan (Jan. 3), Miami (Jan. 17), Ohio (Jan. 21) and Akron (Jan. 28) in January, while the February schedule sees Buffalo (Feb. 10) and Western Michigan (Feb. 18) come to the Stroh.
BG ends the home portion of the schedule on March 7 vs. Northern Illinois.
In addition to the trips to EMU and UT, the Orange and Brown will travel to face NIU (Jan. 10), WMU (Jan. 14), UMass (Jan. 24), KSU (Feb. 4), BSU (Feb. 14), Ohio (Feb. 25) and CMU (March 4) in conference competition.
In addition to the aforementioned trip to face Louisiana on Nov. 3, BGSU will host a Sun Belt school to be determined on Feb. 7, giving the Orange and Brown another weekend home game.
