Weilbacher Wins MAC Championship on Floor to Pace Falcons
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Bowling Green gymnastics concluded the season at the 2024 MAC Championship on Saturday, hosted by Ball State at Worthen Arena. BGSU finished seventh as Western Michigan won the MAC Championship with a score of 196.525.
BGSU's Kathryn Weilbacher led BGSU by sharing the MAC Championship on floor with a 9.900. Five others shared the honor with Weilbacher. It is the second year in a row that a Falcon won an individual championship as Taylor Jensen won beam in 2023. Weilbacher is the first Falcon to win a MAC Championship on floor since Kayla Rose in 2017 with a 9.950.
Isabella Rivelli medaled as she finished third on bars with a 9.900. It was her second-best score of the season.
The Falcons were poised to finish in the middle of the talented pack but had four falls on beam in the final rotation that dropped BGSU to last place with a 193.625.

From the Locker Room
"I thought the team came out really strong today. It is always a challenging meet with a lot of bye rotations. We had three great rotations to start, but I feel like we got a little tight on beam. It is something to learn for next year because we return most of our team. I am so proud of Izzy [Rivelli] and Kathryn [Weilbacher] to finish top three. Their hard work has really paid off and I am excited for them to use that momentum to help for next year." - Kerrie Turner, BGSU gymnastics head coach
