Broncos Blank BG Thursday Afternoon
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Host Western Michigan University broke out to an early lead Thursday afternoon (Oct. 10), and the Broncos went on to a 4-0 win over the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team in Mid-American Conference action at the WMU Soccer Complex.
Callie Cunningham scored the game's first three goals for the first-place Broncos (7-1-5, 4-0-2 MAC). She opened the scoring with just over four minutes gone, then scored a pair of goals roughly two minutes apart midway through the opening half.
Jen Blitchok scored on a penalty kick in the 31st minute to cap the scoring.
Lauren Buafo made three saves in net for the defending MAC regular-season champions, including a save of a BGSU penalty kick with the Broncos leading, 1-0. Freshman Payton O'Malley had four saves for the Falcons (6-4-2, 3-2-1 MAC).
