CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSU Strategic Communications) – Bowling Green State University women's soccer standouts Lexi Czerwien and Emme Butera each have been named to the All-Mid-American Conference Team. The All-MAC Team and specialty-award winners were announced on Tuesday morning (Nov. 5) by the league office.

Czerwien earned all-league first-team honors, while Butera was voted to the all-conference second team.

Additionally, first-year Falcon phenoms Payton O'Malley and Haley Wolf each were chosen to the MAC's All-Freshman Team.

All four Falcons earn all-conference accolades for the first time in their respective careers.

Czerwien, a native of Rochester Hills, Mich. (Rochester), started all 18 matches for the Falcons in 2024, and led the team in scoring. She had BGSU-best totals of five goals and 11 points, adding an assist. Four of those goals and nine of the 11 points came in conference play. Czerwien scored what proved to be the winning goal in the non-league matchup with Findlay, and the center midfielder also scored the winner against Northern Illinois. She played all 90 minutes of a match on seven occasions, including in five of the last seven games of the season, and she also found the back of the net against Toledo, Miami and Akron. A transfer from Xavier, Czerwien played in 55 matches, starting 51, in her three seasons as a Falcon, and had 16 points on seven goals and two assists.

Butera, who hails from Willoughby Hills, Ohio (Willoughby South), started all 18 matches in her sophomore season. She played every second of the first 17 contests, and finally came out of a match when she was shaken up in the MAC Tournament game at Ohio on Sunday (Oct. 31), but returned just 48 seconds later. The center mid helped the Falcons record six shutouts on the season, including three in MAC play. At the other end of the field, Butera had seven points to tie for third on the Falcons. That total included two goals and three assists, tying her for second on the club in the latter category. All three assists came on game-winning goals, against Cleveland State, Ball State and Toledo. She scored a goal in the win over Findlay, and found the back of the net on an Olimpico at Kent State last week. Butera has played in all 36 of BGSU's matches in her first two seasons, coming off the bench in every game in 2023 before playing 1619:12 of the Falcons' 1620 minutes in '24.

O'Malley, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. (Chartiers Valley), played in nine matches in goal, and had 26 saves, two complete-match shutouts and a goals-against average of 1.56. Those nine contests included eight MAC regular-season matches and the Falcons' league tournament contest. O'Malley made her collegiate debut in the Miami match on Sept. 29, and played every second of every subsequent contest. She had a career-high seven saves in the win over Northern Illinois, and made six stops in a draw vs. Buffalo. O'Malley and the Falcons picked up back-to-back shutouts late in the regular-season, against Eastern Michigan and Akron.

Wolf, from Rochester, Mich. (Adams), saw action in all 18 matches in her first year as a Falcon, making nine starts. The defender started one match during non-conference play, then moved into the Starting XI for good on Oct. 5 vs. NIU. Wolf started the final eight contests, playing all 90 minutes on two occasions and 79 minutes or more three other times. She helped the Falcons limit the opponent to one goal or fewer in five of those final eight contests, including the shutouts vs. EMU and UA. On the year, Wolf played a total of 999 minutes, and she was on the field for 753 of the 1080 minutes in conference play

BGSU finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 7-7-4, and the Falcons went 4-4-3 in MAC play to earn the sixth seed for the conference tournament. BG advanced to the MAC Tournament for the eighth consecutive season, the longest current streak among conference schools.
