Stransky Named MAC Offensive Player of the Week

Bowling Green State University women's soccer standout Emma Stransky has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 16).

Stransky earns the honor for the first time in her BGSU career.

Stransky, a native of Copley, Ohio (Copley), scored both BGSU goals as the Falcons topped Kent State, 2-1, on Sunday (Sept. 14). Her first goal came on a header in the 36th minute, and after the Flashes tied the game early in the second half, the junior slotted a ball into the right side of the net with just under an hour gone for the eventual winning goal. The brace was the first of her career.

Stransky now has BG-best totals of five goals and 10 points this season. She ranks second in the MAC in both categories, and is tied for the league lead with two game-winning goals. Stransky has 12 goals and 29 points in her career, and with seven GWG, has moved into BGSU's career top-10 in the latter category.

The Falcons, off to a school record-tying 6-1-1 start to the season, face a pair of tough tests this week. BGSU, 1-0-0 in MAC play, heads to Athens for a Thursday (Sept. 18) matchup with Ohio University. That contest begins at 4:00 p.m. at Chessa Field.

Then, the Orange and Brown will return home for a Sunday (Sept. 21) game vs. preseason MAC favorite Western Michigan. Sunday's game begins at 1:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium, and admission is free.
