Falcons Check in at #45 in First RPI Rankings of 2025
The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team is off to one of the best starts in program history, and the Falcons' success was evident when the first NCAA RPI rankings were released on Monday (Sept. 15). BGSU is ranked 45th in the nation in the RPI.
The Falcons, after Sunday's (Sept. 14) 2-1 win over Kent State University in the Mid-American Conference opener, are 6-1-1 on the season, tying the best start in school history. The 2025 campaign marks BGSU's 29th season as a varsity program.
BGSU's RPI ranking is the best among MAC schools this week, and it is believed that the only higher rankings in program history came during the 2020-21 season that was altered due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That year, the Falcons were ranked 29th in the nation in the April 18, 2021, rankings, before finishing the season ranked 31st.
That 2020-21 campaign was the only other time the Falcons were 6-1-1 through eight matches, and that team ended the abbreviated season with a trip to the NCAA Championships, finishing with that 6-1-1 ledger.

The 2025 team will open the road portion of the MAC schedule on Thursday (Sept. 18), heading to Athens to take on Ohio University. That match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start at Chessa Field.
Then, the Orange and Brown will end the month of September with home contests vs. Western Michigan (Sept. 21) and Central Michigan (Sept. 28) on back-to-back Sundays. Each match will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium, and admission is free to all BGSU home soccer action.
