BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Ohio University rallied for three runs in the seventh inning, posting a 5-4 win and completing a sweep of Tuesday's (April 15) doubleheader against the Bowling Green State University softball team. The two Mid-American Conference games were held at a blustery Meserve Field.

The Bobcats (27-12, 10-4 MAC) posted a 10-1 victory in the opener. Lauren Yuhas led the Ohio bats with three hits in each game, while Skipp Miller earned the win in the opener and picked up a save in the nightcap.

For the Falcons (15-27, 7-11 MAC), junior Hannah Hunt had three hits on the day, while redshirt freshman Addie Martin had a hit in each of the two games. Hunt went 2-for-2 with two walks in the opener.

Freshmen Ava McKee and Hannah Massaro each went 2-for-3 in game two, while sophomore Peyton Steffes had a three-run double.

BGSU-OHIO GAME ONE – HOW IT HAPPENED
• Lauren Yuhas and the Bobcats got on the scoreboard quickly in the opener. Yuhas opened the game by drawing a walk, then stole second and continued to third on a throwing error. She scored on CiCi Keidel's groundout.
• BGSU, however, answered quickly. Taylor Behrendt led off the Falcon first with a base hit, and took second on Hannah Hunt's one-out single. On a ground ball by Cameron Kaufman, Hunt was safe at second on an Ohio error, loading the bases. Then, Scarlet Anderson lined a ball to right field that was caught, but Behrendt tagged and scored from third to tie the game.
• But, the Bobcats responded as a Shelby Westler single and a Belle Hummel walk put two runners aboard with no outs. Yuhas followed with a base hit, and the runners each took an extra base on a BG error, allowing Westler to cross the plate. Another run came home on a Brenna Farmer sacrifice fly.
• BGSU loaded the bases in the bottom of the second as, after Skipp Miller had retired the first two Falcons, Behrendt and Addie Martin each singled, with Behrendt taking an extra base on Martin's single as a Bobcat outfielder overran the ball. Then, Hunt walked to put three Falcons aboard, but Miller was able to get the third out.
• Falcon junior Mackenzie Krafcik worked out of a two-out, one-out jam in the third. After Izzie Wilson doubled with one out, Abby Kennelly followed with a single to put runners at the corners. But, Krafcik struck Westler out on three pitches, then induced Hummel to hit an inning-ending grounder to Kaufman at short.
• But, the 'Cats would add to the lead in the fourth. Yuhas reached on a bunt single, stole second and took third on Keidel's sac bunt. Farmer's fly ball to right turned into an out thanks to a diving catch by Peyton Steffes, but Yuhas was able to tag and score on the play.
• Then, Emma Hoffner singled, stole second and scored on a Maddie Wilcox single. Ohio would load the bases on a BG error and a Kennelly single, but Krafcik won a long battle with Westler, getting the Ohio junior to fly out to Steffes on the 11th pitch of an at-bat that included seven foul balls.
• Hunt singled and Kaufman was hit by a pitch in the fifth, but BG could not cut into the 5-1 deficit. Then, Ohio added to the margin in the sixth.
• Hoffner led off by reaching on an error, and came all the way around to score on a Wilcox double. Wilcox would cross the plate on a Kennelly base hit.
Kendall Mathews led off the Falcon sixth with a double, and took third on a sac bunt by Hanna Massaro, but she was stranded there.
• And, Ohio added some insurance in the seventh. The 'Cats scored three runs on three hits in the inning, with Hoffner and Wilcox producing RBI singles and Wilson adding a sac fly.
• Miller picked up the complete-game win, allowing just one unearned run and six hits. She threw 128 pitches, walking two batters and striking out seven.
• Krafcik threw a total of 151 pitches before exiting the game in the seventh inning. Anderson picked up the final three outs in the circle for the Orange and Brown.

BGSU-OHIO GAME TWO – HOW IT HAPPENED
Morgan Beckham earned the start for the Falcons in game two, and after allowing a leadoff single to Yuhas in the first, retired six-straight Bobcats. She walked Wilson to begin the third, then set down the next five hitters.
• Meanwhile, the Falcons took the lead with a four-run first frame. Hunt's smash back up the middle caromed off of Ohio pitcer Mikie Lieving's leg and trickled away for a leadoff single. Martin followed with a sharp single to left, and after Lieving won a long battle with Kaufman, she walked Ava McKee to load the bases.
• Then, Lieving issued a four-pitch walk to Katie Hutter, allowing Hunt to trot home with the game's first run. The Ohio hurler got a strikeout for the second out of the inning, but Steffes followed with a double that cleared the bases and gave the Falcons a four-run lead.
• In the third, McKee's one-out base hit chased Lieving from the game, and Hutter greeted new Ohio pitcher Anna Wise by drawing a walk. But, after getting a popup for the second out, Wise caught a liner off the bat of Steffes for the third out.
• Beckham took a one-hitter into the fourth, before walking Wilcox and allowing a single to Wise with two down. But, the Falcon freshman got Westler to lift a fly ball to left for the third out.
• Massaro singled to begin the BG fourth, and after a Delaney Davis sac bunt, Martin drew a two-out, four-pitch walk. But, shortstop Kennelly ranged to her right and knocked down a hard-hit ball by Kaufman, and was close enough to third base to toss the ball to Westler in time for an inning-ending force play.
• Ohio cut the BG lead in half in the fifth. Wilson singled and Kennelly walked to begin the inning, and Yuhas followed with an RBI single. Then, Keidel's liner was just high enough to get over the glove of leaping shortstop Kaufman, loading the bases. Massaro made a nice running catch of a Farmer drive to center, but a run scored on the play to make it a 4-2 game. Beckham responded with a strikeout of Wilcox, before getting Wise to ground out.
• BG loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth, after a McKee single, a walk to Steffes and a Massaro single. But, Wise got an inning-ending strikeout to keep her team within striking distance.
• In the sixth, Westler led off with a walk, and Yuhas singled with two outs. Then, Keidel hit a liner to left that landed just foul. She lined the next pitch to the left side as well, but third baseman Martin made an inning-ending catch near the third-base bag.
• In the seventh, Farmer led off with a double, and Sydney Marshall entered the game. Hoffner was safe on a throwing error, switching places with pinch-runner Ashley Sturgill and making it a 4-3 game. Marshall got Wilcox to ground out to second, with Hoffner advancing to third. Pinch-hitter Sydney Young drew a walk, and with runners at the corners, Lieving entered the game at first and then stole second.
• Westler smashed a ball to the right side, but second baseman Hunt made a spectacular diving catch for the second out. After getting nothing on that hard-hit ball, the Bobcats got what proved to be the winning hit on a blooper off the bat of Wilson. Her hit landed just out of the reach of three Falcon fielders and just inside the left-field line, allowing the tying and go-ahead runs to score.
• Miller came on to pitch the seventh and retired the side in order to lock down the win.
• Yuhas was 3-for-4 for the second-straight game, while Wilson went 2-for-3 with a walk.
• For the Falcons, Massaro and McKee each were 2-for-3, while Steffes had a walk and a three-run double. Martin singled and walked twice.
