Addie Martin Named to MAC All-Freshman Team
CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSU Strategic Communications) – Bowling Green State University softball standout Addie Martin has been named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team. The all-league squad, along with the specialty award winners, was announced on Tuesday afternoon (May 6) by the conference office.
Martin, a native of Dover Ohio (Dover), started all 52 of BGSU's games in 2025, and hit .338 with a team-best .656 slugging percentage. Martin hit 13 homers, the second-highest single-season total in BGSU history, and also led the Falcons in stolen bases, going 15-of-16 on the basepaths.
Martin became the first player in school history to hit at least 12 homers and steal at least 12 bases in a season.
In addition to homers, steals and slugging, Martin led the team in runs scored (43), runs batted in (36), total bases (105) and extra-base hits (22). She finished the season ranked in the school's top-20 in seven categories, placing in the top 10 on six of those lists. As mentioned, her 13 homers stands as the second-highest total in BGSU history, and she also cracked the single-season lists for runs (tie-fourth), total bases (sixth), slugging pct. (eighth), RBI (tie-ninth), sacrifice flies (three, tie-ninth) and steals (tie-16th).
After just one season (plus 10 games in the 2024 season), Martin is tied for 16th on BGSU's career homers list.
Martin paced the 2025 Falcons in both multiple-hit games, with 15, and multi-RBI contests, with 12.
In MAC play, Martin hit .317 and led the team in at-bats (82), runs (18), hits (26, tied for team lead), homers (four), RBI (17), total bases (17), slugging pct. (.537) and stolen bases (8-of-9).
Martin started 38 games at third base, but moved over to shortstop and started 14 games when a teammate suffered an injury and missed several weeks of action.
She reached base in each of her first six plate appearances at Meserve Field, going 4-for-4 with two homers vs. Green Bay (March 18), then adding a triple and bunt single in her first two at-bats of that day's second game. After BGSU swept Green Bay and Kent State, Martin was named the D1Softball National Freshman of the Week on March 25, and earned MAC Player-of-the-Week honors that same day.
