Five Falcons Named to CSC Academic All-District® Team
Five members of the Bowling Green State University softball team have been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Scarlet Anderson, Katie Hutter, Cameron Kaufman, Mackenzie Krafcik and Peyton Steffes all were named to the team.
Krafcik earned the honor for the second-straight season.
Anderson, a senior, saw action in 26 games in 2025, including 23 in the circle. She had a team-high 20 relief appearances, and went 3-2 with a 4.27 earned-run average in 60 2/3 innings of work. Anderson also had one save and 25 strikeouts while allowing opponents to hit just .288 against her. She batted in eight games, making five starts at the designated-player spot, and had a homer and three runs batted in. The homer, the first of her collegiate career, came in a Senior Day win at Meserve Field.
In the classroom, Anderson had a 3.528 cumulative grade-point average as a biology major.
Hutter, a junior, played in 43 of BGSU's 52 games, making 41 starts. She started 32 games at the designated-player position and also made nine starts at first base. Hutter was the Falcons' leadoff hitter a team-high 30 times on the season. She hit .260 on the year to rank fifth on the team. Twelve of those hits went for extra bases, including nine doubles, a triple and two homers. Hutter scored 27 runs to rank third on the Falcons, and also drove in 16 runs. She tied for second on the team in doubles, and was third in walks (30). She was also third on the club in slugging percentage (.398) while ranking fourth in on-base pct. (.377).
Hutter, a sport management major, has a 3.653 cumulative GPA.
Kaufman, a sophomore, started 38 games on the year, missing 14 due to injury. All 38 of those starts came at shortstop, and she batted in the cleanup spot in the lineup a BGSU-high 30 times. Kaufman batted .274 to rank fourth on the team, and she tied for second on the club with nine doubles. Kaufman had a total of 32 hits, scoring 12 runs while driving in 15. She was a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen bases. In MAC games, Kaufman hit .292 to rank third on the squad. She has started 78 of BGSU's 96 games over her first two seasons.
In the classroom, Kaufman has a 3.658 cumulative GPA as a sales and services marketing major.
Krafcik, a junior, led the Falcons in a plethora of pitching categories, including appearances, starts, innings pitched and wins. Krafcik went 8-11 with a team-low 4.03 ERA in 2025. She appeared in 33 of BG's 52 games in the circle, making 16 starts. Krafcik had three complete games, including one shutout, and combined with a teammate on another shutouts. In MAC games, she led the staff in appearances (19), starts (11), ERA (3.50), innings pitched (74) and strikeouts (31). Krafcik was named the MAC Pitcher of the Week on March 25, after going 3-0 with an ERA of just 1.19 the previous week.
Krafcik, a finance major at BGSU, has a cumulative GPA of 3.659.
Steffes, a sophomore, was one of just three Falcons to start all 52 games on the season. She made 36 starts in right field, 12 in left and four in center. Steffes batted .235 on the year and was second on the team with nine stolen bases. She scored 22 runs and had 21 RBI, and had 11 extra-base hits among her 35 total hits. Steffes walked 18 times and had a .317 on-base pct. and a .349 slugging pct. She had seven doubles, two triples and two homers. In MAC action, Steffes hit .257 and was second on the Falcons in both stolen bases and RBI.
Steffes, a finance major, has a perfect 4.000 cumulative GPA.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 17.
