Midweek Matchup With Miami Begins Busy Final Week
FIRST PITCH...
• The Bowling Green State University softball team ends the 2025 regular-season schedule with a flurry of activity. Head coach Michelle Gardner and the Falcons will play six games in a four-day span, beginning with a Wednesday (April 30) doubleheader vs. Miami University. First pitch for the Mid-American Conference twinbill is set for 1:00 p.m. at Meserve Field.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will hit the road for one last time, taking on Notre Dame on Thursday evening (May 1) That single game will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Melissa Cook Stadium.
• The Falcons will close the 2025 season this weekend, with a three-game series vs. Robert Morris. The teams will meet in a Friday (May 2) single game, beginning at 3:00 p.m., before playing a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday (May 3) at Meserve Field.
THE OPPONENT / THE SERIES
• Miami has an overall record of 26-23, and the RedHawks enter Wednesday's action with a 15-7 MAC record. MU has been idle from competition since a game at Purdue last Wednesday (April 23). Shelby Kunkel and Chloe Parks are hitting .372 and .370, respectively, this season, as the RedHawks are batting .298 as a team under first-year head coach Mandy Gardner-Colegate. Jenna Golembiewski leads the MAC with 17 homers. In the circle, Madilyn Reeves has made 31 starts and has an 18-10 record, a 3.40 ERA and 173 strikeouts. She leads the league in several categories, including complete games (20) and strikeouts. Last season, MU went 49-9 overall and 26-1 in the league en route to a fourth-straight conference title.
• The Falcons trail Miami, 68-57, in the all-time series, and the RedHawks have captured the last nine meetings. BG's last win over the RedHawks was a 4-2 decision on the road on April 19, 2022. BGSU is 38-25 at home, 14-37 on the road and 5-6 in neutral-site meetings vs. MU through the years.
