Gardner, Falcons Announce 2025 Schedule
Bowling Green State University softball coach Michelle Gardner has announced her team's schedule for the 2025 season. The Falcons' spring slate features four tournaments as well as 11 home dates at Meserve Field.
The pre-conference schedule includes tournaments hosted by USC Upstate, four-time reigning national champion Oklahoma, Coastal Carolina and Indiana.
Gardner, who was named BGSU's head coach in June of 2024, spent the previous two-and-a-half years as the associate head coach at CCU, and had a nine-year stint as head coach at IU (2009-17).
The season is scheduled to begin on Friday, Feb. 7, as the Falcons head to South Carolina for a tournament hosted by USC Upstate. The Orange and Brown will meet Monmouth and Akron, in addition to the host school, at that weekend tourney (Feb. 7-9).
Two weeks later, BGSU ventures to Norman, Okla., for a tourney hosted by the defending national champions. BGSU's opponents for that tournament (Feb. 21-23) include Tulsa, Wichita State and the Sooners.
The Falcons return to South Carolina the following weekend (Feb. 28-March 2) to play five games in a tourney hosted by Coastal Carolina. In addition to the host Chanticleers, BGSU's opponents will include Connecticut and Wisconsin. And, BG will play a non-tournament game vs. CCU on March 3 before leaving town.
Then, the next weekend (March 7-8), BG heads to Bloomington to wrap up the pre-conference slate. The Falcons' opponents in Indiana's tourney include IU Indianapolis and UIC, as well as the Hoosiers.
The Mid-American Conference portion of the schedule begins with a three-game series at Buffalo on March 14-15. Then, on Wednesday, March 18, the Falcons will open the home portion of the schedule with a doubleheader against Green Bay.
The Green Bay twinbill begins a 10-game homestand for the Falcons. That lengthy stay at Meserve Field includes a three-game series with Kent State, as BGSU opens the home portion of the MAC slate with a single game on Friday, March 21, followed by a doubleheader the following day.
In addition to KSU, the Falcons' home MAC opponents include Ball State (March 28-29), Western Michigan (April 11-12) and Miami (April 29). BGSU will play three games vs. the Cardinals and Broncos, and two vs. the RedHawks.
The Falcons' league road slate includes meetings with Akron (April 1), Northern Illinois (April 5-6), Ohio (April 15), Central Michigan (April 19-20) and Toledo (April 25-26), in addition to UB. BGSU will play two games each against the Zips and Bobcats, and the Falcons will face the other four opponents three times each.
BGSU will play a non-conference doubleheader vs. Youngstown State at Meserve Field on March 26, and the Falcons will travel to Indiana to meet Notre Dame in a single game on April 9.
The Falcons end the regular-season schedule with a three-game home series vs. Robert Morris on May 2-3.
The 2025 MAC Tournament will be held from May 7-10 at Firestone Stadium in Akron, with the tournament winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Gardner and her staff welcome back a total of 16 players from last year's club, and also have added seven newcomers, including six freshmen and a junior-college transfer. Ten of the returnees started at least 10 games a year ago.
