Swim & Dive Falls At Akron
FINAL RESULTS AKRON, Ohio –
The BGSU swim & dive team traveled to the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium, where they lost 195-105 to the Zips in their first MAC dual meet of the season.The Falcons challenged the three-time defending MAC champions by winning five of the 14 individual events and scoring their most points in a dual meet against the Zips since January 23, 2015, when they posted 167 points.
BGSU head coach Tanner Barton also made his first return to the Ocasek Natatorium since February when he won his fourth consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference swim & dive championship there for John Carroll University on the men's and women's sides.
Emily McNicol, Joanna Robertson, Karina Solera and Samia Becdach led off the meet with a second place showing (1:44.03) in the 200-medley relay.
Livia Castro notched second (10:37.94) in the 1,000 freestyle (2nd, 10:37.94), while Taylor Devorace (1:54.27) and McNicol (25.96) placed third in the 200 freestyle and 50 backstroke, respectfully. Ava Vial (2:04.95) and Fabiana D'Ambrogio (2:07.26) took second and third in the 200 butterfly.
The freshman Becdach aced her individual events, as she won both the 50 freestyle (23.60) and 100 freestyle (51.28).
McNicol (2:05.91) and Alexandra Johnson (2:09.34) went 2-3 in the 200 backstroke, while Vial (2:19.62) took the gold in the 200 breaststroke.
Abby Toepfer and Castro capped off the individual swimming events by tying for third with a mark of 5:14.75 in the 500 freestyle.
Riley McNichols, Elayna Krupp, Grace Bodrock and McNicol (1:36.79) took third in the 200-freestyle relay to end the night.
In the diving events, Natalia Mayorga starred as she took first in both the one-meter (282.05) and three-meter (323.55) dives.
