BGSU Tennis Soars to Eastern Michigan Invitational to Open 2024-25 Season
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- The Bowling Green Falcons tennis program will begin the fall portion of the 2024-25 season at the Eastern Michigan Invitational, hosted by Eastern Michigan. The invite begins on Friday, Sept. 20, and will conclude on Saturday Sept.21. All two days of competition are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET at the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti, Mich.
The invitational will be split into with seven singles flights and four doubles flights. The winners from the first round will move on to the semi-finals while the losers will be playing for 3rd. The Falcons will be competing against players from Eastern Michigan, Findlay, Oakland, Wayne State and Youngstown State. Weather permitting, each player will be scheduled to play two singles, and one doubles matches on Friday with one single and two double matches on Saturday. If needed, Sunday Sept. 22 will be used as a make-up day if there is a rain day.
This will mark the Falcons first trip to Ypsilanti, Mich., since March 26, 2023.
The Falcons are returning five letterwinners from last season including Tia Clemens who was the recipient of the Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship award. In the offseason, the Orange and Brown welcomed four new freshman to the team: Konstantina Adampoulou, Lucia Gaio, Isabella Norris and Sumejja Plicanic. Additionally, the team brought in two transfers for the upcoming season Ellie Hire from Christian Brothers University and Qianyu Liu from Nicholls State.

Main draw action is slated to be played outdoors at the Auer Tennis Complex, with consolation matches indoors. Play may also be moved indoors to the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in the case of inclement weather or darkness.
