BGSU Tennis Set for First Road Trip against Eastern Illinois and Bradley

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons continue non-conference competition with two away matches. The Orange and Brown will compete at a neutral site against the Eastern Illinois Panthers for the first time since March 26, 1991. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:45 am in Hamilton, Ohio. BGSU will finish the weekend traveling to Peoria, Ill. For a 10am match against Bradley on Sunday morning.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons continue non-conference competition with two away matches. The Orange and Brown will compete at a neutral site against the Eastern Illinois Panthers for the first time since March 26, 1991. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:45 am in Hamilton, Ohio. BGSU will finish the weekend traveling to Peoria, Ill. For a 10am match against Bradley on Sunday morning.
 
Last Time Out 
Last weekend, BGSU went 1-1 with a win over the Holy Cross College Saints by a score of 5-2. Leticia Fonseca won both her singles matches over her opponents  in the No. 6 spot. Against the Saints, BGSU took singles No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Isabella Baker clinched the win at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-1). On Sunday afternoon against the Findlay Oilers, In doubles, sophomore Qianyu Liu and freshman Konstantina Adamopoulou took the win with a 6-4 victory. 
 
Opponent Outlook: Eastern Illinois
The Panthers are currently 2-5 in the spring season, with two wins of 4-3 against Northern Iowa and IU Indy. Eastern Illinois competed against fellow MAC school Northern Illinois on Jan. 25 and were swept by a score of 7-0. The Eastern Illinois women's tennis doubles team of Aleyla Wooten and Michelle Kostadinova was named Ohio Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week for the week of Jan. 28, 2025. The Falcons will be the first of four consecutive Mid-American Conference schools that the Panthers will face during the month of February.  

Series History: Eastern Illinois 
The Falcons have competed against Eastern Illinois, once in program history. The first time the two teams competed against each other was a neutral site meeting on March 26, 1992, in Orange Lake, Fla. Bowling Green came away with a 7-2 victory. 

Opponent Outlook: Bradley 
The Bradley Braves hold a record of 1-1 so far, with a win over Western Illinois by a score of 4-3. The victory was the 104th for head coach Matt Tyler, giving him the most dual match wins in program history. BGSU will be the first of two MAC schools, the Braves will see this season with Northern Illinois hosting Bradley later this season. Bradley will start the weekend on Saturday, February 8 with a home match against the SIUE Cougars. 

Series History: Bradley 
Bowling Green and Bradley have never met before in program history. Sunday morning's meeting will mark the first time these two teams have ever faced each other in women's tennis.
