BGSU Tennis Heads to Inaugural MAC Fall Championship
BOWLING GREEN, OHIO - Sophomores Isabella Baker and Tia Clemens will take the court for the Falcons at the Mid-American Conference Women's Fall Individual Championships that is being hosted by Miami, Ohio, and will take place from October 24-27 at the Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton, Ohio.
Tournament Overview
The eight schools competing have each chosen two players to represent their program in the single-elimination tournament. The event starts Thursday, Oct. 24, with the first round of singles being played with matches at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. On Friday, the start time is at 9 a.m. with the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament before seeing one round of consolation singles being played at 11 a.m. The winners of the first-round singles matches will then play in the quarterfinals starting at 2 p.m. On Saturday, action begins at 1 p.m. with the doubles semifinals with the singles semifinals following at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the doubles championship match will start at 10 a.m. with the singles championship match starting at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Tia Clemens has had a phenomenal start to her sophomore season as last week at the Viking Invitational she went a perfect 5-0 in singles and doubles matches against Duquense, Youngstown State, and Cleveland State. Clemens has not yet lost in singles competition this fall season and is looking to continue her undefeated record and win a Mid-American Conference Championship. Isabella Baker has also had a good start to her sophomore year, in the Eastern Michigan Invitational she placed second in her draw.
Falcons Opening Matchups
- Tia Clemens will be taking on Buffalo Senior Esmee Andresen who finished with a team-best 23-8 singles record for the Bulls last season. Andresen is a former NJCAA National Champion at Hillsborough Community College.
- Isabella Baker faces off with Northern Illinois Junior Nataly Ninova who has a career singles record of 41-29. Ninova is known for her dominant record in Doubles competition as she went 18-4 in the Fall/Spring season last year.
Both Clemens and Baker are playing for the chance to become the first fall Mid-American Conference Individual Champion. They each will have a tough road to the finals where they could face off against each other.
