Falcon Trio Victors at U-M’s Silverston Invitational
FINAL RESULTS ANN ARBOR, Mich. –
The iconic University of Michigan fight song "The Victors" was a frequent sound over the loudspeakers inside the U-M Indoor Track Building at the Silverston Invitational.Fortunately for the BGSU track & field squad, a trio of Falcons were hailed as they celebrated victories in their respective events during the final meet before next week's MAC Championships.
Competing for the first time in just over a month, freshman Erinae Coleman took first in the 60m dash (7.59), DaMya Barker came out the winner in the 60m hurdles (8.68) and Trista Fintel won the shot put (15.79m), her eighth overall victory of the indoor season.
Katherine Mendenhall and Alexsia Davis also qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles.
After the sprints, it was time for the longer events on the banked, blue 300-meter track. Tyyetta Herman was the best finisher for the Falcons in the 200m, placing sixth with a PR of 25.58. The freshman also took seventh in the 400m (59.56) with another PR.
Alexsia Davis finished seventh in the 200m with a season-best mark of 25.83, while Ashley Kisor also had a season-best time of 59.36 in the 400m, placing sixth.
Additionally, Sydney Burrs and Raegan Burkey competed in both the 200m and 400m races.
In the jumps, Katherine Mendenhall finished runner-up in the high jump (1.63m), while Jenna Lucas equaled her season best in the long jump (5.12m).
Along with Fintel, Sierra Brinson competed in the shot put and took third with a PR of 14.14m. Brinson (15.25m) and Sierra Podolan (13.76) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the weight throw.
Up Next
The Falcons will gear up for the MAC Championships hosted by Eastern Michigan. The two-day meet will begin on Friday, February 28 and conclude on Saturday, March 1.
