Big Records Fall at GVSU Big Meet
FRIDAY RESULTS ALLENDALE, Mich. –
Reese Reaman was 17 years away from being born when the BGSU indoor 800m record was last set by Hall of Famer Tracy Gaerke in 1988.The average cost of a gallon of gas was $0.90, CDs outsold vinyl records for the first time and Grand Valley State University's Kelly Family Sports Center was 20 years away from being built.
Fast forward 37 years later to the 2025 GVSU Big Meet. On the blue 300m track, the freshman Reaman broke Gaerke's program record by 0.01 seconds. Her mark of 2:08.36 placed third overall in the event.
The Falcons were not done shooting for big times at the Big Meet.
About three hours later, Kylee Cubbison – who ran in the mile invite heat – ran a 4:42.53 in the race, which broke Reaman's record she set two weeks ago at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational by about four seconds. The time was good for fourth in the section.
Additionally, in the 800m, fellow freshman Rachael Hoover ran with Reaman and ran a 2:09.61, becoming the fourth-fastest performer in the event in BGSU history and place ninth overall.
In the sprints, Kiersten Franklin tied her PR in the 60m with a mark of 7.52 to place third. Reagan Campbell (57.40) also hit a PR in the 400m, and Rachael Withrow became the ninth-best performer in program history in the 3,000m (9:54.64). Regina Rose hit her PR in the same event (10:10.04).
Trista Fintel once again dominated in the throws. Competing in the invite section of the weight throw, the graduate transfer from Findlay won with a toss of 19.65m, which improved to the fifth-best performer in BGSU history. She also competed in the invite of the shot put, placing second with a mark of 15.22m.
Other notable performances in the throws were Lane Anderson in the shot put (13.37m – eighth) and Grace Bradtmueller in the weight throw (17.03m – sixth).
Sabrina Imes was the lone Falcon to win an event, as she leaped to a 12.18m in the triple jump invite missing her PR by just 0.01m. Bianca Staples finished runner-up with a jump of 12.16m.
Morgan Patterson placed fourth in the long jump invite (5.70m), while Staples jumped 1.64m in the high jump invite.
