Meet Preview: Track & Field Set For EMU's Bob Parks Memorial
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The BGSU track & field squad will head north on US-23 to Ypsilanti where they will compete in the Bob Parks Memorial at Eastern Michigan's Bowen Field House.
The meet is on Saturday, January 23 and begins at 10 a.m. with track events starting at 1 p.m.
The Falcons are coming off a trip to Akron's Al Campbell Invitational where they set six top 10 marks in program history. At EMU, BGSU will compete against six other programs (Eastern Michigan, Madonna, UD Mercy, Windsor, Northwood and Central Michigan). The meet is named in memory of Bob Parks, who was EMU's head men's track & field/cross country coach for 34 years (1967-2001) and was a 22-time MAC Coach of the Year who captured six NAIA/NCAA team titles. He also coached an athlete in every Olympic Games from 1968 to 2012. His daughter, Sue Parks, is an assistant track & field coach at EMU.
