Women’s Cross Country Records Highest Finish At NCAA Great Lakes Regionals In Nine Years

NORTON, Ohio – It was a fantastic Falcon finish for the BGSU women's cross country squad at the Silver Creek Cross Country Course, as they placed 11th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional with four newcomers contributing.

It marked their best performance at the meet since 2015 when they earned ninth.

Braving the muddy and misty conditions, three runners placed in the top 50 for Bowling Green, led by second-team All-MAC performer Kylee Cubbison who put together a 6K PR of 20:34.5 and finished in 40th.

"I'm proud of Kylee today," head coach Lou Snelling said. "She's typically more of an even racer, and there's been a couple moments where she's missed the boat because of that. She swung the bat today and went for it. She was very aggressive early and paid for it a little bit late, but I'm still really proud of her performance."

Regina Rose also hit a PR with a mark of 20:36.2 that placed her in 43rd, and MAC Freshman of the Year Lexi Panning also had the best time of her career with a 20:38.1 that was good enough for 45th.

Freshman Reese Reaman (21:15.8) and sophomore Rachael Withrow (21:31.4) contributed the top marks of their young careers, while first-years Rachael Hoover (21:36.4) and Amelia Barilla (22:07.8) rounded out the Falcons' performers.

All seven runners that competed for Bowling Green will be back next season.

"It should be pretty positive," Snelling said about the direction of the program moving forward. "It's up to all of us in the next year of what we can make happen from a fitness and performance perspective. I think it should be our best team performance in the last 25 years. That's there for us."
